They have a term for Presidents like Obama - one term. That was a little rude to say with the President sitting right there.
There were a couple of good laughs, but overall I thought he bombed.

...but many of his gags were tasteless and a shade too blue.

I love the inappropriate censorship stuff, but I believe it was inappropriate for this event.

He seemed nervous, and often rushed his timing. He had too many gags, and would zip into them, so you wouldn't really dwell on the many that bombed.

Some of the gags were simply insults. Even when directed at someone as odious as Allen West, I can't remember the first one, but as much as I detest West, I wouldn't say that to a roomful of people he was in.

I was wondering if he may have been nervous??? Is it possible? I wouldn't think so, but I don't know why else he would've stepped on his own lines and laughs. He looked uncomfortable and read his whole talk.

He had some good lines, but it was rushed. The timing and delivery was very bad.

Once your timing starts to be a little off, it probably snowballs.
I still think he did a good job though.

own show (Sara SILVERMAN might disagree), but mostly in this venue he was just ugly. Besides that the material was disjointed, separate jokes without connections, and sections that were falling flat. The President was thoroughly sophisticated, cool, and shot down all the Rethug talking points, everything from the hot mike to the dogs to the snob. And this is an objective assessment.

Doing that dinner is a tough gig now. You have to be topical but not too much so (witness the classic Colbert appearance that was followed by next year by Rich Little)...the Press corp wants funny but not TOO funny. Stand-ups tend to handle this situation best as they can read the room...Kimmel relies on writers and not very good ones. The President had far better material and pretty much sucked the air out of the room by the time Kimmel took the dias.

The material was OK. His nervousness got in the way of the delivery though......
