My uncle will likely never speak to me again after I hit "reply all" to one of the fwd fwd fwd emails with the following....
**********************************************************
I am sick up to my eye balls of "Obama class warfare" " grab yur bootstraps" "poor people are really rich".
You know it's bull when you spew it. We could go through the whole wasted exercise of how the little bit of "free" food "wasted" in the belly of a "welfare queen" sure as hell isn't costing you your job or your house or your retirement. We could go through the whole routine of pointing out the vast majority of dole dollars go toward making upper class whites richer. We could go through the litany of all the ways the 1%ers suck at the government teet more than the rest of us put together.
You know damn well black people didn't take your little shitty ass jobs away because of "Affirmative action" and I don't for one minute believe you really think "anchor babies" are why you can't afford both gas for the F150 and a lush retirement.
No you don't. You know who did this. You know damn well.
Just stop already.

(23,156 posts)actions when I get some kind of crap. It usually does cause the original poster to take my name off their list, because I sincerely doubt any of them stop sending out mass emailings.
Here's the real problem. No matter what, sending something to everyone in your address book is a totally dumb idea in the first place. No matter what the message. Even the adorable kittens and puppies photos. I may own a cat myself, but the adorable kittens and puppies photos? No thank you. So if sending off something that most people would consider relatively innocuous isn't always appreciated, everyone should think carefully about more pointed messages of any kind.
Oh, and forwarding something, anything at all, to everyone in your own address book is just a very good way to get viruses spread around. It's the electronic version of unprotected sex with lots and lots or people.

(8,053 posts)for forwarding me some tripe forwarded by one of her church friends about denying illegal immigrants something... I shot back at them "oh, ok.. so now it's the xtian thing to do to go against what Jesus commanded (not asked kindly, but commanded) you do, and that was to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, house the homeless, visit the imprisoned. So they come after the illegal immigrants... who's next? Oh, by the way, did you know that there is a movement underway now to strip older black Americans of their right to vote? So Madear ambles her way down to the voting booth and because she was born at home 80 years ago and not in a hospital, she has not birth certificate and she can't vote. Victory!!!!! Should I jump up and down over that and let out a big "hallelu--serves them right. They don't deserve the right to vote. That's what they get!"?
Let's see you all get all exercised over that piece of news. Oh, and use your time online to do a google search on that little thing and on an outfit called ALEC, because they're writing the legistlation to do exactly that across the country instead of forwarding this devil-worshipping bs." (that was added for effect)
My mom has taken me off her forwarding list. And she apologized to me.

(53,410 posts)only I was much more succinct. I said something like "Take me off your email list. I want nothing to do with racists."
In each case I received a few 'reply all' that said the same thing also because I said it. If nothing else it makes some racists go back in the closet where they belong.
Reply all can be a very good thing.

(7,719 posts).....and my inlaws are too. I am the only democrat, but that doesn't stop me from wading into any political conversation. I am 100 times more savvy than they are when it comes to politics, so they usually change the subject quickly.
I also happen to be the richest member of the family, and I guess that probably pisses em off, as well. They quit sending the right-wing forwards years ago. I always just attached a link to Snopes showing what they were saying was a lie, and sent it back to em.
I told them if I wanted to believe lies like this I would become a republican, and that they should actually read something occasionally to verify.....of course they didn't.

(1,950 posts)many republicans will go one with their lives as the world revolves around them wihout even really understanding a single issue. most of the time they will just ignore facts (ignorace is bliss)(case in point , i wont discuss high speed rail with a few friends )repbulican and or democrat).many times these ppl get worked up is when it is election time and never really really study the issues.they will just go with the party line . many are on ssi , social security , etc. and say they(they meaning a person or a unknown entity) want cuts . there is a story on here,(du) that says that goverment cuts in certain sectors will delay recovery.and i have never heard a single plan on how to restart the nation. i also asked someone to please stop sending me this unsubstantiated stuff( note an explive deleted was used) ( meaning obama and others) and said it in a nice way.(that gets more things done!!)

(63,912 posts)These people need to know that we are aware that their lives are being made more miserable by the !%, even if they won't admit it. If they refuse to face up to the fact that they are voting against their own interest, then it is up to us to point that out to them IN THEIR FACES.
Just stop already is right!

(14,177 posts)Perhaps there is a chance at least one moderate will see this and understand what voting for conservatives really means and jump off that wagon. I dunno if they will jump off in this direction. But, getting off the crazy train is at least a move in the right direction.

(153,160 posts)for example, after my rightwing asshole cousin sent me derogatory email regarding Katrina victims - it was vile and I let him know no true Christian (which he purports to be) would EVER email such racist, lying TRASH - he hasn't sent me anything else like that

(31,849 posts)took the time to find out what church the "christian" that sent out the stuff attends, and add that church to the e-mail chain with the message:
"Dear Pastor,
I just thought you might want to know what message is getting through to members of your congregation with respect to "Christian Love." If the following is NOT your intended message, might I suggest that it inform your next few sermons. If, however, the message is consistent with your interpretation of the "Grand Commission" might I suggest that you re-visit the Book of Matthew."
