Halperin says it's fair game for Obama to use the taking out of Bin Laden

but that if Bush had made a video about taking out Saddam Hussein he would have been attacked.

What a fucking scumbag. Iraq was an illegal war. There were no weapons of mass destruction.

Joe Scum is real slime

second, he and many in the press seem to have a lot of amnesia.

Top target decks of cards. "Mission Accomplished". 2004 elections with Cheney declaring that the US would be hit again if he and Bush were not reelected. I could go on and on and on about the exploitation of war and targets for political gain by W and Cheney during their time in office.

<snip>
The political party of the “Mission Accomplished” banner on the aircraft carrier Abraham Lincoln in May 2003, the party that gave us George W. Bush as an adorable dressup fighter pilot, now accuses Barack Obama of “spiking the ball” because he runs an ad about the order to take out Osama Bin Laden in May 2011.

Are they kidding? If it had been Bush who ordered the hit on Bin Laden, the Republicans would have wanted to make the day it happened into an instant national holiday. Instead they send out Sen. John McCain to issue a statement about the President who kicked McCain up and down the Electoral College four years ago.

“Shame on Barack Obama,” McCain says, “for diminishing the memory of Sept. 11 and the killing of Osama Bin Laden by turning it into a cheap political ad.”

But the idea that this President isn’t allowed to remind people that nearly 10 years after Bin Laden killed nearly 3,000 of our own in New York and tried to blow up lower Manhattan it was his — Obama’s — order that finally took the guy out is plain stupid, even for a smart guy like John McCain.

the pukes are just so obvious, aren't they? They're so mad that they were shown up when Obama got OBL in a practically flawless operation and was cool enough and gutsy enough to actually do it.

Obama's foreign policy skills are extremely good. He's really shone in his exercise of power in these matters. I am very impressed with him.

- and many of his surrogates argued that with Kerry as President, Saddam would not just be in Baghdad, but Kuwait.

The strawman here is that there was no video of taking Saddam out, but there were detailed descriptions. (Could it be that any video taken was less heroic than the descriptions could be?

Add this to Bush's many efforts to conflate Iraq/Saddam with OBL - so the capture of Saddam was put up as justice for 911 - which it obviously had little directly to do with - except in the minds of the neocons. Bush and his surrogates were so comfortable doing this, that without thinking Bush did in the debate - - only to be taken to task by Kerry, pointing out that it was not Saddam who attacked us, but OBL.
