God I just wish Women ran the World.

Oh sure there are a couple of Marine Le Pen's out there.... but over all we'd be so much better off.

I've so had it with the arrogant assholes and their condescending attitude toward Women.

My wife of twenty years is a hundred times smarter than me, more organized, rational, understanding, and terrific when a family crisis occurs.

Is she my equal--- please---- she blows me away.

Physical strength has so often been the determinant of power. However under early tribal conditions females ran the show in terms of keeping a stable environment for humans to succeed and maintaining relationships needed to survive. Males performed more riskier duties.

Females lived longer and provided social stability that laid the ground for our survival and "advancement" (for lack of a better term) as a species with characteristics such as language and advanced cognitive abilities.

IMHO the difference between the net and RL is that people feel they no longer need to practice simple niceties online.

In real life if a man complimented his wife and boasted of the attributes he believes are shared by her gender, because of his admiration of her, people would, typically, see the warmth behind the sentiment and either share in that happiness or at the very least keep their to themselves.

We definitely lose something important in this medium, again, IMHO.

and everything ran great, there were minor issues between workers but overall never had a single problem. Of course, I think if people look for a problem based on their own prejudiced world view - one will appear to them shortly.

when two girls would decide to exclude a third just for the hell of it. Not to mention that a lot of women use their sexual power to gain favor, for all they say they don't.

I've never liked working for women or in a woman-dominated office.

Men have been running things forever. Maybe it's time to change course and give women a try. This is not a post wanting to eliminate men from the total equation.

Trumad sounds like a guy who really has an open mind, and he respects women (and, apparently, he has a great wife, as do I. I don't even come close to being the kind of wonderful person my wife is). And I guess because both Trumad and I have these same ideas, we must be sexist against women or hate men. Typical.

Again, only at DU. You're damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Men or women... doesn't make a difference. Either you're a good leader or you aren't.

To think that gender has anything to do with qualifications is just.. er.. dumb.

have absolutely nothing to do with gender.

Perhaps your wife should run the world, but that isn't because she is a woman.

It's because she's made of awesome.

Her awesomeness is not connected to her gender, and can't be projected onto "women" as a group.

Anyone who WANTS to run the world, male or female, is likely to be a bit suspect.

Not only Marine LePen, but Maggie Thatcher, Ann Widdecombe, Nadine Dorries, Shirley Porter, Sarah Palin, Phyllis Schlafly, Michele Bachmann, Jan Brewer...

But then what about Jean-Marie LePen, Norman Tebbit, George Osborne, Ian Duncan-Smith, Nigel Farage, Nick (ugh) Griffin, Dubya Bush, Dick Cheney, Rick Santorum, Mitt Romney...

A slimeball is a slimeball, whatever the gender.

but whenever we get into the realm of "running the world", we bump into things like ego and agenda, and both sexes, sadly, are equally susceptible to those failings.

I do appreciate your sentiment, but I don't think that anybody is exempt from that old maxim that Power tends to corrupt, without an effective system of checks and balances employed by all people.

However...

There is brilliance and idiocy in women just as there is in men. I'd much prefer it if we just stop seeing gender in our public lives, and use merit as a basis for our leaders.

And there's no shortage of complete jerks on either side of the gender aisle, either

Apr 2012

The "women are so complex" notion disappears when women are seen as human beings who are not meant to be oppressed.

Just a tidbit of tangential thought.

Women are horribly oppressed all over the world, just for being female. Religion plays a huge part. Ignorance is the biggest offender.

We have a disadvantage with our high pitched voices and our less-muscular bodies, and our less-aggressive hormones. This is why we women are so easily quieted, so easily pushed aside and told to stay in our place.

Saying "I wish Australian Aborigines ruled the world" is as racist as saying "I wish the Europeans and their colonial offshoots ruled the world." The fact that the latter is largely true doesn't impact both statements being blatantly racist. Saying "I wish everybody got equal consideration" or something to that effect would be pro-equality, insisting on upending the current order while maintaining imbalanced power is counter-productive because it allows the idea that power should be inequitably distributed to persist.

If only we could reduce reality to a semantics game.

I wish it would be that easy. What is it going to take, with the reality of women having less forceful bodies, less aggressive hormones, and higher-pitched voices, to ever be "equal" in this mortal world of aggression, religion, ignorance, repression?

As long as we are human beings, there will be a struggle, I am afraid.
