PennDOT to rename bridge in honor of baseball great Stan Musial!

The Donora-Monessen Bridge will officially become the Stan the Man Musial Bridge at a ceremony Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced this afternoon.

1. My college chaplain grew up in Western Pennsylvania

He was a Pirates fan, and as a kid went to Forbes Field to see the Pirates play Stan the Man and the St. Louis Cardinals. After the game, he and some other kids gathered around the clubhouse door to see Stan the Man leave. They waited and waited. Several players left through the door, but no Stan the Man. Finally, there was a small ruckus from down the street. One kid had been outside another door leading out of the stadium and was shouting that he'd just seen Stan the Man! The other kids came running, where a wide-eyed boy was gabbling about Stan the Man, who had ducked out a side exit and boarded the team bus which had promptly taken off. "Stan the Man talked to me! He looked right at me and talked to ME!" What'd he say? What'd he say? "Get outta my way, kid, or I'll knock ya down!"
