There are so many to choose from. Every day brings a new utterance from at least one of these clowns. Now what could be more appropriate on May Day than to vote for the DUMBEST member of this current Congress?

(111,255 posts)so they've shunned him and put him into a separate category, completely.
For those who don't remember, he's the stupid jerk who issued an apology to BP because everybody was being so mean to them for fouling most of the Gulf coast with their blowout.

(147 posts)I don't know who is the dumbest. John has a pickled brain, and no one likes a crying drunk. Michele and Alan are just certifiable. Rand gets my vote. He thinks we should go back to the "whites only" days. But what can you expect from someone raised by Ron.

(2,842 posts)I've only recently moved here and haven't had the chance to vote against her yet, but she is really deeply'ignorant.
dumb/stupid: inability to learn
ignorant: lack of knowledge
She's got'em both.
Gman
(24,780 posts)It's pretty tough competition here, but I think she's shown that she takes the crown.

The crown is Michelle's. Not that she didn't have stiff competition.

But I keep changing my mind because West has so much competition!

(27,247 posts)Senator from Vermont who switched sides in 2001 because he couldn't stomach the Republican Party anymore.
so many like Jeffords have to hold there nose and vote for insanity. I have no doubt some (R) members in congress are not stupid, but if you vote for stupid long enough... does it matter if you are smart enough to know the right thing was different than what you did? I understand a bad vote once in a while, but how many times do you pretend Paul Ryan is a genius financial wizard before you lose any sense of what good financial planning is suppose to be? It feel like when I was younger there were simply more GOPers you could at least respect. Today the most public members are re-election machines that care nothing of governance and policy understand goes Heritage foundation cover letter deep.

(27,247 posts)Everett Dirksen, for example, Senator from Illinois who, for all his other faults (for example, he was a war hawk) helped Lyndon Johnson pass the Civil Rights Act. Then there was Winthrop Rockefeller, Governor of Arkansas (1967-71) who helped change the image of the state from a land of hillbillies and racists to one of a more progressive and tolerant people. And his brother Nelson, Governor of New York, would fit in the center or even left of today's Democratic Party.

But as you said, "Today the most public members are re-election machines that care nothing of governance and policy understand goes Heritage Foundation cover letter deep." I think that crap started going full-throttle with the election of Reagan in 1980.

(8,556 posts)Though the single dumbest thing I can recall being said by a current member of Congress wasn't really about politics. This was Hank Johnson's infamous 'Guam tipping over' comment. He seems like a decent guy, but that wasn't his brightest moment.
