Federal Judge rushed to hospital after being shot outside home

(WXYZ) - 7 Action News has learned that a US District Court Judge has been rushed to the hospital after being shot on Detroit's west side.

Sources tell 7 Action News that the victim is Judge Terrence Berg and he was shot in the leg. The shooting happened on Oak Drive. That's near 7 Mile and Livernois.

Sources say the judge was taking the trash out when he was approached by either one or two men. He was shot in the leg during the encounter.

Berg has been on the federal bench since December 2012. He was nominated to fill the seat vacated by Judge Arthur Tarnow by President Obama in April 2012.
