Lanny Davis Fumes At MSNBC Host Over Clinton Email Story Questions

Things got a little tense Friday between former Clinton White House counsel and public-relations consultant Lanny Davis and MSNBC host Tamron Hall when Davis went on Hall's show to discuss the latest surrounding former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's use of a private email system while at the State Department.

The discussion broke out into an argument when Davis took issue with MSNBC reporter Alex Seitz-Wald saying on the show the email situation has been feeding into questions of whether Clinton "violated policy, she might have opened herself up to potential security breaches."

"The fact is she did nothing wrong, Hillary Clinton did nothing wrong, Hillary Clinton did nothing wrong, as long as they're preserved and there's nothing to hide," Davis said.

....

Davis said he wasn't "deflecting," just arguing that there's a "double standard in media coverage where we're not pointing out that there's precedent for what Hillary Clinton did, whether there's a governor or Secretary of State Powell, that's all."

"Well, Secretary of State Powell did not control his own server…" Hall responded. "We know that."

"Excuse me! Governor Bush did," Davis shot back. "When you make these distinctions, you're in argument, not doing facts. You want to argue with me, that's your right as a host of a program."

....

part of a mad scramble for position as they are trying to apply for a job on her campaign by seeking their own press contact/coverage. There are thousands of people jockeying for position as I type. They promote themselves as "Clinton people", talk to the NY Times or the Washington Post or any other second tier media person who will listen to them, go on tv, run their mouths, say stupid stuff and thus guarantee that they won't be hired.

Later when reality strikes and they realize they won't be getting a job because they selfishly and wrongly injected themselves they will go around trashing her at every opportunity. Unfortunately, they will continue to be introduced as Clinton insiders even though they are the opposite.

No one speaks for Hillary and she ain't talkin' and that is why the press is so wound up. They want at her. They want her to announce NOW so they can hound her. Fuck 'em.

Now they at least show Contessa Brewer's part time gig on the weekends: Stuff Blowing Up Part 9.

and that's the line that should b held.

Getting angry and defensive never works in these situations it just shows that a touch has been felt on a sensitive spot.

Looking at the language used by the Clinton camp, they talk about things done in the spirit of the law...which when it comes from rooms with lawyers, and Clinton is a lawyer herself, isn't chosen by mistake. People notice that sort of thing.

The Clinton camp can declare victory and not talk about this anymore, or they can be careful and leave few things hanging as low fruit for people keen to grab nuance.

As I understand it, there was no rule in place, at that time, that prevented her from using her own email. She did use her own server.
If it was not against the law, let it drop. For god's sake let it drop and get back to real problems like BENGHAZI.

-Some of the lowest peacetime unemployment rates were recorded during Bill Clinton's tenure
-The longest economic expansion in the history of the republic was recorded during Bill Clinton's tenure
-The highest rate of African American home ownership was recorded during Bill Clinton's tenure.
- The poverty rate was at its lowest in generations under Bill Clinton's tenure.
-The abortion rate was at its lowest level in a generation under Bill Clinton's tenure; people were confident about the future, fucking a lot, and keeping the kids.

That's why Bill Clinton is arguably America's most popular living politician:

The so called Clinton scandals were great background music to the most prosperous and peaceful decade of the twentieth century

didn't say. But Hillary may have done something ILLEGAL, the article suggested. What a SCANDAL! That's what made this story blow up so fast. Now it appears no laws were broken, but the media has a new chew toy and they aren't ready to let go. The coverage has gone from "Was it illegal?" to "Was it secure?"

He was a rude, jerk.

And, when Lanny said...

"Excuse me! Governor Bush did," Davis shot back. "When you make these distinctions, you're in argument, not doing facts. You want to argue with me, that's your right as a host of a program."

Tamron could have also responded that...

"Jeb was also not Secretary of State and one of the most powerful persons in the US Government, working for a President expressing a call for transparency." But, I thought she was quite gracious.

It's a non issue. I think Lanny and Clinton would be much better served CALMLY treating it as such, instead of trying to say, well...when Jeb was Governor of Florida...he did it too. If Jeb is the benchmark, we're doomed already.

I think one of our ambassadors under Clinton was ousted during her era for using personal email. I can't think of his name. But, they need cool operators squashing it. Not jerks...just my opinion.
