Conservative lawmaker believes 'God-made' marijuana should be legal in Texas

http://www.myfoxaustin.com/story/28276776/conservative-lawmaker-believes-god-made-marijuana-should-be-legal-in-texas

On Texas Independence Day, State Rep. David Simpson from Longview filed the 24-page House Bill 2165...proposing the end to marijuana prohibition in Texas.

"The Governor said he wanted to expand liberty in Texas. I don't think that just applies to guns and open carry but to plants that God made that are good," Simpson said.

The Tea-Party-backed conservative Simpson says he doesn't believe God made a mistake with marijuana that the government needs to fix.

"We may disagree with how someone uses this or that substance but as long as they don't harm someone, government needs to get out of the way," he said.

Willie Nelson would approve.

...about how God gave humanity "every good herb for their use."

Neighbor's wife is a nurse. She once told me it was good he was self-employed due to his crippling migraines and other health issues. He's the one who told me about his pot usage -- apparently it really helps.

We do have friends on the other side of the political equation -- they are not as monolithic as we sometimes think.

Pot laws are being changed one state at a time. Eventually the federal government and/or SCOTUS will have to follow suit -- rather like the issue of gay marriage.

The right to peacefully grow and use plants has been a basic human right and should be protected at all cost against government intervention.

I do not feel the gov has the right to regulate what plants an individual grows and uses if done for peaceful means.

The federal can regulate the interstate commerce of plants and the state can regulate the intrastate commerce of plants. But they cannot come onto a citizens property and tell them what plants they can and cannot grow for their personal use.

Could you imagine if the gov intruded on everyone with a garden. No growing your own medicine and growing your own food is a god given right and the gov has no place between me and mother nature.

Genesis 1:29

Keep the government out of my garden!
