(710 posts)A couple of funny things I noticed at the end.
1) Obama started off the speech as a presidential kind of speech, but towards the end he started to go into preacher mode, and I find this funny because you just know the repukes are going to hate that, yet he did it anyway, haha
2) When Michelle Obama gave GWB a courtesy kiss at the end, their mouths accidently came really close to touching, ewwww.

(710 posts)I was also talking about the way he finished of the speech, the way he used religious anecdotes, it sounded a little like one of those preachers that preach in black churches.
Anyway, it was a wonderfully powerful speech, IMO the best he has ever made given the importance of the topic and the he way orated it in a way that would inspire even some hard fanatic repukes to accept the strength of the argument about voting rights.

(81,441 posts)Glad you're here! I'm listening to the speech as I write this. It makes me sad that his time in office is 3/4 of the way completed. I love this President.

(614 posts)folks, i never post original stuff (don't even know how), and only the occasional comment. but i just watched this very short video about the woman who is the fifth girl, the only one who survived that birmingham church blast:
http://www.theguardian.com/world/video/2015/mar/07/sarah-collins-rudolph-birmingham-bombing-video
there is a photo of her after the blast that is horrifying; she lost an eye, had many shards of glass removed from her face, and has been saddled with all the fallout from that incident as she grew older. she has never had any help with all her medical bills, from anyone, ever!
so, i guess all i know to suggest here, for someone who knows how to do this sort of thing, is to build a fund for her via crowdsourcing.
is there anyone out there who might want to see this happen? and knows how to do it?
i would love to see that happen, but i have no clues beyond this comment.
thx so much.
her name is sarah collins rudolph.

Now, the corporate media and the deep south - don't expect them ever to be fair.
