I know people post about this every

so often, but I did it today.

I went to Shopko to renew a prescription. I have Medicare D. I wish they would pay more for me, but I have the best plan I could find. A woman was there ahead of me, also a Medicare recipient. The woman was complaining loudly about the cost of her meds, and refusing to listen carefully to any explanations the employees were trying to give her. The poor pharmacist and pharmacist's assistant were trying to urge her to call her Medicare D provider. The assistant also said something about what did people do before Medicare, how hard it must have been for them.

She said, "It's because of that Obamacare Crap. The price of everything has gone up because of him. Obama is so full of shit."

I spoke up and told her that she had Medicare, not Obamacare, that they are two different programs. She said they were not, and that Obama was at fault. I told her to check with her provider about her deductible and co-pay, that I was a Medicare recipient, too. I told her that she did not know what she was talking about. I said, "I think we all know who is full of shit around here."

She stalked away.

I did some more shopping and came back for my prescription. The ladies told me that they were glad I spoke up. One of them told me she had to go to the back and turn around so that the woman would not see her laughing.

No one else saw this, but it made me feel good to say something. I hope she goes home and wonders about the difference between Medicare and Obamacare. I wonder how stupid she will feel when she finds out what a dumb ass she is.

Tried to get a plan based on VA but it was refused. There could be competition in bidding but the big pharma won the game and we continue to pay high prices in the US

Since currently the lifetime cap has been lifted ACA is going to prevent me from losing insurance.

Or she'll find some blog that says she's right.

But it doesn't matter. You did the right thing. Good for you

she had it way before Obamacare was in effect!

I'm sure that woman will go home, look online, figure out she was wrong, then go take a nice Fox News bath and forget everything she learned that day.

5. I went to the senior center

and found a person there who works for the Dept. of the Aging. They went online and compared prices and plans for me. Of course, they provide the service free of charge. But since the senior center gives them space and saves them time and money, I left a donation for the senior center.

7. I'm struggling with the whole A, B, D, and Supplemental thing right now.

I thought I had it all down and put together, but it seems I don't. I thought I was getting Part D with a company supplemental, but they left it out. I'll be paying full price for prescriptions 'till another open enrollment comes around next December.

Anyone who's going to get involved in this, do what murielm99 did- go down to the Senior Center, get a health-care advocate to help you set it up, and make sure they cover all your bases.

The people I spoke with at Social Security were all very knowledgeable and helpful, but they don't lay it out in easy-to-understand terms and sequences. A health-care advocate will help put it all together, and steer you in the right direction.

As far as the dumb ass at the prescription window goes, she's so full of shit that there's no room for anything but more hard-packed shit. But I admire you for speaking up. I always know what I should've said after it's over; I'm glad you put it out there where it needed to be said.
