Made in America (Harley), Lost in Tsunami, Found in Canada

Now a Harley-Davidson motorcycle has been found on Graham Island, part of the Haida Gwaii archipelago off British Columbia. In a story by the National Post, Ikuo Yokoyama, 29, from Miyagi Prefecture, confirmed on Tuesday that the 2004 Night Train is his.

The bike had been in a container in Mr. Yokoyama’s backyard, along with some golf clubs, tools, tents and camping gear. The clubs were salvageable, according to Peter Mark, the man who found the container, but the rest of the items were just a “ball of rust.”

Mr. Mark got a call from a Japanese TV station on Tuesday, saying they had located Mr. Yokoyama — safe, sound and happy that his beloved Harley had been found. He did, however, lose his home to the tsunami.

“I’m pretty happy,” Mr. Mark said. “I’ve been worried the whole time that something bad had happened to him. It’s a major relief knowing he is O.K.”

Didn't sink? I would think with its weight, it would have gone under. Maybe the tires helped it float?

...that presumably floated, probably submerged or mostly submerged, but not resting on the bottom.
