I would love to see him in the Democrats primary.

(40,416 posts)When nobody big has announced?
However...
Realistically, do people here really think that he would be even interested?
It also invites the question of: Why do people here so often want to show support for a person by running them for president? This especially whether the person could realistically win, let alone wish it.
I applaud Jon. He's great! But I don't think he's likely to run for US President.
Just like Liz Warren, who thankfully is in the US Senate.

(29,322 posts)& John Stewart would say the same thing himself. The reasons he gave regarding both himself & MSNBC in terms of being inappropriate for either as to why he didn't entertain their offers to host MTP were actually the reasons why he'd be more credible than anyone they can find to fill the void (MSNBC wants that 25-54 demo the television industry covets) but when it comes to running for President no one should start in politics at the top.
I would strongly support Jon Stewart if he was started as a local congressman but should probably start at the state level. Bernie Sanders has experience, knowledge, of the system & can also trust him at-the-top because whatever you think of him, he is one of the more effective legislators that is also in the top 5% in working with the House. Jon Stewart, I'd support him 100% because of his focus of political hypocrisy was taught in an unconventional course at William & Mary (IIRC) which highlights the defining quality of him but not at-the-top. Jon Stewart would say so himself which is why I would support him if he worked his way up.
He often put himself or his views as "sideline activism", like heckling those specifically in the political game whether in the media game but doesn't hold himself to the same standards as he does for them because that isn't his job which he said was probably unfair. The entire Rachel Maddow with Jon Stewart is very good, helpful for him to explain himself but holds himself in a different category as his job is to be funny but like him criticizing Crossfire, Jon Tucker to this day mentions his soft ball interview of Kerry when he writes about Jon Stewart.
