Missouri Man Charged With Threatening To Shoot President Obama

Source: Huffington Post, many others

March 17 (Reuters) - A Missouri man was charged on Tuesday with threatening several times to shoot U.S. President Barack Obama in meetings with an informant and an undercover officer who posed as a member of a white supremacist group, prosecutors said.

Cameron James Stout, 24, of Stover was arrested on Tuesday and remains in custody after an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Jefferson City, Missouri's capital, prosecutors said.

An informant told a Morgan County sheriff's deputy that Stout had asked him on Thursday for a high-powered rifle and assistance in a plan to shoot the president in the next few weeks, an affidavit attached to the criminal complaint said.

Over the next few days, the informant, a former member of the Aryan Nation, met with Stout and agreed to put him in touch with a high-ranking member of the organization who could help him obtain a rifle and plan the attack, the affidavit said.

If this had already been on LBN yesterday, I apologize, and will self-delete or be fine if moderators lock this.

Another white guy, from the middle of America, has a Facebook page with 500 "friends", and looks like a common laborer who likes to get drunk on weekends, shoot guns, kill dear, hate African Americans and hates people who are poor, hates Obama, of course.

But he has guns, and access to guns, and 500+ Facebook "friends".

I'm wondering if he's just the "tip of the iceberg" of what might be brewing out there, 6 months after Ferguson.

Anyone stupid enough to go on Facebook and post racist and other hatred like that probably should be locked up for a long time, but then there's defense attorneys who say he has his freedom of speech, which, of course, he does.

Is this guy just a fool, a nut, or a pawn? I'm thinking we need to look deeper into all of what is there in that "wasteland of hate" as you may have aptly put it.

Obama was in meetings with an informant and undercover officer? Nothing to do with the news, just the writing makes me cringe. If I have to read it more than once to figure out what they are saying, it is not written properly.

Sorry, kick and rec for the news, glad they got him

exists in a story 12 hours old put out there on the internet to get clicks.

I, myself, still make a few garbled or missplaced modifier sentences on-line.

But the substance of what this guy is plotting makes me want to look deeper. And why did he think he'd find "leaders" of the Aryan nation in Missouri? Was that a reasonable expectation? Did he think he would easily find them there and that they would love to give him a high-powered rifle and transport him free to a good site where he could shoot Obama? Is he just stupid, or is there more behind this story?

Where there are towns with two gas stations, a convenience store, and a bar. The biggest next town over has a McDonald's, too.

The nearest college is 60 miles away, and the nearest non-home-school high school is 20 miles away.

They go fishing and hunting and drinking. Their car radio is the only radio they own; unless they have a tractor with a radio. Their 60" TV is tuned to the fight channel, (except when there's a football game), or the playboy channel, or Fox.

Easy to figure it out.
