David Vitter Is Sick Of Europeans And Their Stupid Coins

WASHINGTON -- The European continent has gifted some of history's greatest cultural icons to the world. The Louvre. The Colosseum. The Cologne Cathedral. Plato, Dante, Gibbon. The Clash.

But Europe has also committed great crimes. In particular, Europeans go around paying for things with coins valued in whole units of currency. Fussy Europeans use 1-euro coins and 2-euro coins, as if a paper note would not suffice. This abomination shall never be replicated in the United States, if Sen. David Vitter (R-La.) has his way. Because Charlemagne was overrated, and you know what? Fuck Pericles.

Nice to see Mr. Diaper and the GOP Senate have such important work to do.

one-dollar bills have a lifespan of about 18 months, in circulation. Coins last decades. The switch from banknotes to coins would save billions.

The US seems to have a problem designing coins and putting them in circulation. Some may have noticed that Canada shed the penny. Why make a 1 cent coin that costs approximately 1.5 cents to produce?

We got rid of them. All prices are rounded up or down to the nearest 5 cent value. E15.02 becomes E15.00, E15.04 becomes E15.05. Belgium still uses the 1 and 2 cent coins, at least the did 18 months ago.

1 Dollar = 100 cents = 20 "viggies" (from latin "viginti" for 20)

Step 1: Make a law that all prices have to be rounded to 5 cents accuracy.
Step 2: Two years later, put the new coins in circulation.

Next thing you tell me they don't have a 2nd Amendment, gerrymandering, an electoral college and a filibuster!
And that they don't care about football and baseball!
And that they have unions everywhere!
And that their conservatives are more like the US-Democrats!

or even more, without getting my wallet out.

Moreover, dollar bill changers on vending machines suck, and are totally unnecessary in Europe.

Finally, blind people in Europe can distinguish bills and coins by touch alone. Who's brilliant idea was it to make $1 bills, $50 bills and $100 bills indistinguishable to blind people?

PS I will acknowledge OTOH that Celsius sucks and Fahrenheit rules.
