Dear Mr. R***e,
Thank you for contacting Congressman Pocan and sharing your personal story. Like you, Congressman Pocan understands the undeniable medical benefits in cannabis, and he has supported many pieces of legislation aiming to increase access to this important medical drug for all Americans.
You may be pleased to know Representatives Steve Cohen (D-TN) and Don Young (R-AK) introduced the House version of the CARERS Act last week. Since this legislation was so recently introduced I do not think our legislative staff member has had a chance to review the whole bill and discuss it with the Congressman. However, I know the Congressman has been very supportive of all the policies included in this legislation in the past, and will most likely support this bill as well.
If you have any other questions or concerns, please feel free to e-mail me at L*****.Z******@mail.house.gov or call our office at 202-225-****.
Sincerely,
L***** Z******

CARERS is the Compassionate Access, Research Expansion, and Respect States Act; which reclassifies Marijuana from a schedule I to a schedule II drug; nationalizing medical marijuana, for research, prescriptions for veterans, and dropping legal penalties for crimes concerning marijuana.
CARERS is a bill in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. Get a hold of your legislators and encourage them to co-sign, support, and vote for CARERS.

I hope your Congressman will support the bill.
It's about time!

(5,279 posts)2. At the moment Mr Pocan's actions on CARERS is fairly small.
I wanted him to introduce it.
I want him to co-sign it.
I want every single Democratic politician in America to plant their feet, grab hold of the country, stop the drift to right, and drag the entire current mess left.

he's probably thinking about bringing federal and state laws into alignment. It's about time.
