Pat Robertson tells anti-LGBT pizza shop owners to shut up: This is about ‘cake-bakers’

Pat Robertson warned that the backlash to Indiana’s anti-LGBT law signaled a renewed assault on Americans’ sexual practices and “deeply held Christian beliefs.”

The televangelist brought up during Thursday’s broadcast of the “700 Club” a pizza shop owner in the state who made national news when she told a TV reporter that she would not cater food at a same-sex wedding, reported Right Wing Watch.

“Pizzas? I think, you know, you might as well keep your mouth shut,” Robertson said. “I’m not sure I would serve pizza for a gay wedding. Most gays, if they’re having a wedding, don’t want pizzas – they want cake. It’s the cake makers that are having the problem.”

Robertson warned that if gay couples were permitted to serve Christian-baked cakes during their wedding reception, there’s no telling where they would stop.

A baker refuses to make a cake for a same gender wedding on the ground that he (somehow) is exercising his First Amendment right to practice his religion. Pat supports that. However, Pat thinks a pizza maker who refuses to cater the rest of the meal for the very same wedding for the same reason should sit down and shut up because free exercise of religion is somehow only about bakers? Batter, not dough?

I'm going to call it, Pat style: A mind like that is God's judgment on Pat for being a hateful bigot.

6. I think part of his point is

that the pizza makers are trying to jump in and make themselves out to be victims
At least that's what I got from gay weddings don't serve pizza (never been to any wedding where they did)
If that's his point I do agree
The guy is getting thousands of dollars on fund me because he's claiming victimhood

He of lesbian-induced climate change is complaining about realism? I bet it chaps his ass that any joker on the internet can crowdfund bigotry without a media empire.

- I thought ''the gays'' liked pizza like everybody else: ANYTIME!!!

They should give Pat prune juice. This kind of thinking is clearly a sign of irregularity.....

13. People need to stop this 'No one serves Pizza for a wedding' bullshit

Yeah it's kinda funny.

But think about this.

You and your intended are both working minimum wage jobs at your local Wal-mart barely getting 30 hours a week while probably working 2nd or 3rd jobs trying to make enough just to afford the roof over your head and gas in the aging rusted car you are driving.

Maybe there isn't more than $50 in the bank but you really want to do to the right thing and get married. Sure the girl's dream wedding is the princess brides dress with half a dozen bridesmaid with big catered affair at the 5-star hotel at the big city. The one you've watched on one of those reality TV shows they have on Lifetime or some other channel that makes wedding shows geared towards making the rest of us guilty we didn't spend $50k on our weddings.

But in the end you know where many couples have their wedding reception? Probably at their local pizza place where the parents can scrape enough together to afford $100 to cover a dozen people who show up afterwards for a few slices.

That's what we have today when people are surviving on minimum wage.

I'm from rural PA and although I never went to any wedding at a Pizza shop I know folks who used all sorts of 'low-end' places like diners, hoagie shops and even bowling alleys for receptions because those worked for their budgets.

As for Pat Robertson - he's just an asshole and always has been. He doesn't' care about the bible, he cares about getting wealthy.

the old joke about two Baptists on a bridge seems quite accurate

it's a very DIY situation in the States: the most pious European is also completely stumped by the creationism our preacherly atomization--the Earth being over 1M years was settled by the 1830s, and they've found fossil sealife atop the Alps for some ... millennia ... ? epistemological questions aside, the notion that half the US thinks the Earth was created precisely in 4004 BC because of one DIY "reference Bible" gives them Pol Pot-level willies

this is YOUR fault, Melanchthon!

We had a few people come over to the house and enjoy some grocery store cake. We didn't even have dinner. It was just cake.
