Does anyone remember the Military Industrial Complex?

Well, the Corporations raking in billions of dollars sure do. http://graphics.latimes.com/missile-defense/

How about a RADAR described as so powerful that it could spot a Baseball in San Francisco from the other side of the nation? Well, it works, sort of. First, it's field of view is so narrow as to be utterly useless. Second, it is sea based and uses millions of dollars in fuel to just stay in position. Also, nobody figured out how the damned thing was supposed to work with the whole Missile Defense thing.

How about those 747's that were supposed to fly around with big old powerful LASERs that would destroy a missile during the boost phase? Well, those LASERs were pretty powerful, but apparently the people who dreamed it up never saw anything about atmospheric shimmer. That is the thing you see on the highway in the summer that makes it look like the highway vanishes off in the distance. Heat makes air molecules jump around, and LASERs operate on huge amounts of energy pumped down a narrow band, and get this get atmospheric shimmer. So the range of the 747 mounted weapons means that you would have to essentially fly right next to the enemy coast, while you're expecting them to shoot Missiles at your nation. It took a while for someone to notice that an airplane like a 747 would get shot down about ten seconds after the aforementioned enemy launched anti aircraft missiles at it.

Read the link for all sorts of awesome weapons that were closer to science fiction, than science fact, and the huge amount of money pumped into them to "keep us safe" and none of them worked, even a little.

Perhaps the 747's will be used to give the Drone Pilots a bit of a rest by zapping Terrorists from 45,000 feet with their anti-missile laser. Wait, didn't we see that in a movie back when I was a kid?

Yes, I found it. Finally, we are about able to do what the movies showed as an asinine program thirty years ago.

Oh FFS. I guess we'll be seeing that in reality soon.

I was out and beating the yard into spring submission. In Rural Georgia, that takes a little time, and a lot of effort, and a fair amount of bug repellant so far this year. The Mosquito's may be my biggest crop. Normally it's leaves from the many Oak trees and Sycamore Balls.

about the Military Industrial Complex ???

The Pentagon is sucking this country dry.

Our tax dollars are being squandered.

There is outright theft.

There is waste and fraud.

The country crumbles as the Military Industrial Complex 'defends' us.
