One of the noteworthy vehicles at next week’s auction of Gene Swanson’s car collection is this 1967 Ford Mustang convertible.

Gene Swanson of Burwell, Nebraska, was a regular at Wolf Inc. Auction and Real Estate sales.

Coy Wolf, an associate broker and auction manager, said he can remember loading up several vintage cars and other items for the longtime rancher and farmer.

“He was at every auction we ever had since Grandpa started doing this. ... I’d load it up and he’d take it home,” Wolf said.

Swanson died in 2012 at 82, but his vintage car and tractor collection remains at the property he farmed and ranched for more than 50 years, some hidden by trees, sheds and overgrowth.
