Evangelicals View Public Education As The Work Of The Devil.

It is pretty clear that the religious right believes public education is used to advance a satanic agenda. Liberalism and progressivism is part of that satanic agenda. Anything does not include God first is suspect. There is no light between secularism and satanism in their philosophy. That is why you hear so many pronoucenments about putting God, prayer, the Bible or Christian moral principles back into our education system.

They view the present system as brainwashing pushing people toward godless socialism or communism. And any program that supports the safety net is too socialistic or Marxist communist to be allowed to exist. That is why we see so much RW rhetoric about phony self determination and rugged individualism and personal responsibility.

And their pseudo Calvinism is about the faithful are the only people deserving of economic, cultural or social success. Failure to comply and live by Christian means is why people end up in poverty, misery, illness et al. Being saved mean economic rebirth through being reborn.

and started school in 1945. There was a picture of George Washington and of Abraham Lincoln on the walls of my kindergarten room. No picture of Jesus.

We said the pledge but in those days "under God" had not yet been added to the pledge. No prayer even before meals.

In all the years in school I spent a lot of time in the library because I love to read. Never once saw a Bible in those libraries.

As to Christian moral principles - the only time I remember religion mentioned was in World History when we studied the effects of the Reformation. That was one chapter.

Our education back then was a very good academic education and I would love to see my great grandchildren get one just like it.
