I don't get hillary's campaign roll out at all.

She's been widely criticized for being unapproachable and elitist. Why choose to kick off your campaign with a tweet and a film on social media from a jet, 30,000 feet over "flyover" country?

It just doesn't project what I think she needs to project.

However, I do think if she did something like that people would accuse her of pandering and trying to appear folksy and being a phony and all the rest of it.

I think she is kind of in a lose-lose situation. Releasing a video on social media, where she can control the message and get it out there relatively spin-free (as much as that is possible, which is not much) seems like as good a roll-out as any.

I can understand the sentiments behind this quote:

“We just wanted to get this thing over with and get on with it,” a soon-to-be-Clinton staffer said on condition of anonymity.

and an object lesson in why you should never take anything a pundit / editorial writer / so-called journalist says very seriously at all. Yoy, how laughably wrong they all sound in retrospect.

(PS: M. Taibbi: Rachmaninoff didn't improvise.

Regardless of the music, Rachmaninoff always planned his performances carefully. He based his interpretations on the theory that each piece of music has a "culminating point." Regardless of where that point was or at which dynamic within that piece, the performer had to know how to approach it with absolute calculation and precision; otherwise, the whole construction of the piece could crumble and the piece could become disjointed. This was a practice he learned from Russian bass Feodor Chaliapin, a staunch friend.[60] Paradoxically, Rachmaninoff often sounded like he was improvising, though he actually was not. While his interpretations were mosaics of tiny details, when those mosaics came together in performance, they might, according to the tempo of the piece being played, fly past at great speed, giving the impression of instant thought.

Also the same generation of my closest diehard Dem friends. While we want her to win and win big enough to turn the Senate, we are leery of her in many ways already commented on in other threads.

The group I speak of met for dinner last week and no one is crazy about her. We split between her and Obama in '08. We are all in retirement years, female and should be her biggest supporters. We were surprised amongst ourselves that we had each come to the same worried feeling independently.

We each felt we would see it the same way for a male candidate.

Make no mistake, we will vote for her, and probably even in the primary season, but Cali has legitimate observations IMO.
