Fox News host Bill O’Reilly argued on Monday that Hillary Clinton’s budding presidential campaign was already getting a boost due to the attack on “traditional American values.”

“If you’re a Christian or a white man in America, it’s open season on you,” he said. “Therefore, Hillary Clinton has an advantage. She can run a general campaign: ‘First woman in the White House, and I’m gonna help you by increasing the entitlement society.’ It will take a very articulate and tough-minded Republican to defeat her.”

O’Reilly then promised to treat her campaign fairly, with one caveat.

“I don’t think gender matters one bit,” he argued. “And if this ‘war on women’ business is resurrected, we’ll have something to say.”

Everything he said about Clinton could have been said about every Republican nominee, current and future. Back in 2008 when Saturday Night Live(SNL) was creating skits about Sarah Palin taken almost word for word from things Palin said people like Bill O'Rielly were complaining about the liberal bias of SNL and how it's skits were just a part of the liberal hate machine. I loved Star Trek Voyager and watched it because it was the first, and so far only time, that the captain was a woman. I was young and thought that Captain Janeway was cool. She was a good role model for girls and women.

Coincidentally, later on today I'm going to Kate Mulgrew's book signing in NY at a Barnes & Noble by Union Square. I haven't gone to a book signing before, but I want to show her my support. I've never once felt disadvantaged due to my ethnic heritage or gender in my 44 years. In any way, regarding anything.

I am an atheist, and I do discuss that aspect of my life somewhat carefully, because it can definitely disadvantage a person in a whole range of circumstances. However, I can fairly say that (my experience being limited to the upper Midwest) I have never once witnessed a person who professes Christian beliefs being in any way discriminated against, in any way, regarding anything.

Hm... then again, I've seen Christians of one sect really coming down hard on Christians of some other sect. So, I suppose, if inter-denominational conflict counts, it could really be 'open season' on Christians in our country. Not of the shooting variety, but certainly some nasty words mostly spoken in private.

And what exactly are 'traditional American values?' Let's see - people of African heritage should be slaves, women and non-property holders should be excluded from voting, we should expand our borders through warfare with the current occupants of and subsequent expulsion from the land we want, we should have a very limited standing army, no people of non-African heritage should be able to marry people of African heritage, - all these are pretty standard traditional American values, at least among light-skinned males. I suspect that women and people of African heritage, especially those who were slaves and their descendants, developed a very different set of 'traditional American values,' which are just as valid as the light-skinned male values...
