Bob Corker Says Iran Bill Can Withstand Obama Veto

WASHINGTON -- Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) said Monday he's confident his bill to restrict President Barack Obama's ability to reach a nuclear agreement with Iran can survive a threatened presidential veto.

"Look, I don’t ever want to overcommit and under-deliver,” Corker told reporters Monday evening. “We are moving in a very positive direction, and we’ve worked through some issues that I think have given me a lot of hope. ... I think that this weekend has been very productive.”

Corker's bill, scheduled for markup in the Foreign Relations Committee on Tuesday afternoon, would grant Congress the final vote on any nuclear agreement the U.S. and its five negotiating partners reach with Iran. Congress would have two months to review the deal, and during that time the president would be prevented from easing economic sanctions on Iran.

Every Democrat who votes with the Republicans to undermine President Obama should count on a primary challenge next year, and it should start with Schumer

of the legislative branch vs. the power of the executive branch) including many Democrats and Democratic officeholders and those that see this as a policy issue (the President's (maybe) deal with Iran and other nations).

I do see that the Democratic supporters of this bill are NOT necessarily saying that the congress should not approve the deal. They are saying that the congress should have the ability to approve the deal.

Someone needs to tell him that Congress has no influence over the UK, France, Russia, China and all that could happen is that the other nations who are equally a part of this deal, may just go ahead and finalize it without the US.

Not to mention that even if our Western allies were to cave, Russia and China have veto power in the UN Security Council, so any attempt to kill this deal, which is an INTERNATIONAL deal, would most likely be held up in the Security Council.

I'm no expert by a long shot, on International laws regarding deals like this, but I do know Congress only has influence in THIS country, we do not rule the world.

jump in to defend him, complete with his machine of black churches. I think maybe you need to accept the fact that Obama isn't serious about this.
