~Hats off Bob Graham APPRECIATION THREAD~

Back in the days when I lived in Florida, I knew Governor Bob Graham was engaged with the constituency. He introduced state inspection (which at the time cost $3!).

I've admired him since, was sad to see him step away from the Senate, and salute his efforts today!

From my advantaged position, I had earlier concluded that a war with Iraq would be a distraction from the successful and expeditious completion of our aims in Afghanistan. Now I had come to question whether the White House was telling the truth -- or even had an interest in knowing the truth.

Yes…. He was "too honest"… and he did his homework, didn't he, but somehow, this was more difficult for his colleagues.

Back then, everyone I knew in Florida called him "Fry 'em Bob." He had a fondness for instituting the death penalty that was probably only matched by George W. Bush.

… but, to match his support with too-stupid-to-be-president Bush is going a bit out there.

He said that he would be a stronger Democratic nominee against President Bush because he was from the South... “I come from the electable wing of the Democratic Party,”

Plus, the last three Democratic presidents were from the South (Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, and Bill Clinton)

She is from Oklahoma. And she thinks like a cross between the Midwest and the South.

Part of her education was I believe in Texas.

Hillary lived in Arkansas but comes across to me as very Northeastern.

On the other hand, Bernie Sanders is New York but his ethics and morality are universal.

It is a little town west of Tallahassee. It is called Midway because it is mid-way between Tallahassee and another town to the west called Quincy. Rep. Graham beat out the tea party incumbent, Steve Southerland! YAY!!!

I was a young, ambitious Legislative Aide when Bob was a State Senator.

When we talked about Bob Graham, it was with the greatest respect even wayyyyyy back then..we used to say he was so "straight" that..."he didn't drink, didn't smoke and his kids were adopted"...

In 2006 I was reunited with Bob here in Wisconsin...it was wonderful to see him again and I totally enjoyed talking with him (and truthfully..BASKING IN HIS WISDOM.)

Bob would have been an outstanding President....but I think what Jefferson once said is true..."...by the time a man does all that is necessary to attain public office, he is no longer worthy of it."....Bob was always worthy of the titles he held and I'm glad he didn't taint or discredit himself by running for President.
