Hillary versus the competition (R)

Of course I am biased but I don't think any of her opponents are especially gifted politicians....It's not as if she will be running against a Reagan for as much as I despised his policies, had to admire his political chops; the man was a great salesman. Cruz and the Huckster are good orators...They remind me of Jay Osteen but they are too far right of the electorate to get elected. Paul, Walker; I don't see how they pass the "beer test"... I guess I could enjoy a beer with Marco Rubio if our conversation was confined to our favorite football team and basketball teams: the Miami Dolphins and Miami Heat...

Oh, I forgot Jeb Bush... He reminds me of a city manager...

For all of Hillary political skills or lack thereof it's not as if she will be running against some charismatic challenger.

he'll be able to recruit the best of the best to run his campaign. The religious right will eventually get behind him if the field is narrowed down. I'm not worried about Jeb winning if the voters are informed. I'm worried they won't be and that is why he'll win. Advertising convinces a lot of people of things that aren't true.

I guess if Reagan is on the right and Kennedy, Obama, and Clinton are on the left the bar is pretty high...

I don't dismiss him...But if I will stipulate Hillary isn't a natural politician neither is Jeb Bush...But again I set the bar high.

think Hillary wins and the Clinton name helps, as well as her varied experience. And Jeb Bush has the Charisma of ... someone wrote it ... a City Manager.

and she isn't a particularly gifted politician either. I think her odds are probably better than any other potential dem candidate, but she definitely isn't a sure thing.

Reminds me of Johnson v Goldwater, Nixon v Humphrey and McGovern, Carter V Ford, and Bush V Dukakis... Neither candidate had a charisma advantage.

"Charisma" is amorphous, subjective, and hard to define but many democratically elected leaders seems to have done great well without much of it.

He has also proven he can keep control for a full campaign cycle at a high level. Heads up, the manner in which he uses personal compassion to sell conservatism is impressive. He will embody the first W campaign if he gets in.

i lived in FL during the storm year of 2004 and he did exude competence whenever he appeared on tv to reassure people everything would be okay...

But he's more his dad than his brother when it comes to the common touch, right down to picking his nose during a baseball game...

He does exude confidence in a simpleton kind of way. He has made gaffes as have all of them. Yet he has shown he can hold it together for a campaign cycle. Confident simpleton with compassion. He can sell it. I think the Bush name might be too much in the end.
