The Thin Blue Li(n)e has suffered another ding this week. Once again, the NYPD was going for the Untaxed cigarettes, and in the process, a Detective helped himself to $2500 in cash, and wrote out a receipt for $600.
I'd point out that according to reports, this was the Narcotics unit. One has to wonder how many times this Detective, and his squad, has helped themselves to cash that was laying around.
The money quote from the news story IMO.
Abdullah says when he saw the video, he called the nearby precinct, who sent a supervisor to the deli to look at it. And when they saw it?
"They said, 'Oh (expletive),'" Abdullah said. "'He's going to lose his pension, lose his life, for $2,600?'"
It was only after Eyewitness News started asking the NYPD questions that Internal Affairs began to investigate.
Just hours before we broke the story, Cyrus was suspended without pay and his supervisor stripped of his gun and badge and placed on desk duty.

Yes, Internal Affairs got involved when the news called them up and asked when the results of the investigation could be expected. Then the cover up had to stop. Throw the unlucky officer to the wolves, and everyone else act like they would never condone that sort of behavior.
I'm shocked, shocked to find that cops are on the take.
