My local newspaper is fine with euphemistic racism but not with labeling it as racism
The letter I replied about was about Carnival CRUZ and his citizenship for candidature. The quoted phrase "Heinz 57-variety" was embedded in the question, "Can anyone explain how the current president who is a Heinz 57-variety got elected?"
So my letter was not published:

Your Letter: It cannot pass that (name of newspaper) published, as it did, a letter (by so-and-so) with the phrase, the current president who is a Heinz 57-variety." In case any English-only advocates miss it, the meaning being communicated is mongrel, which is racist.

So in the website the objectionable letter is scrubbed away, the only remnants being a pic of Carnival CRUZ and the headline that one of the topics in that day's Letters was "Ted Cruz" (now not there).
I *have* noticed in how they edit wording and content that they consider our style of internet interaction to be brash and cheeky.
