Sometimes an animal will earn a name for their behavior, their traits, or the story of how they came to live with their families. But few do it in such an amazing and heroic fashion as Hero, a stray labrador mix from Dallas, Texas. Hero had evaded being rescued from a park in Dallas for weeks. Dallas Dogrrr-Rescue, Rehab, Reform in Dallas had been trying to save Hero, but to no avail, until one day Hero actually approached them. Turns out, he wasn’t just giving up.

Hero’s approach was far from normal. He barked continuously at the group that had been pursuing him, and made it very clear he wanted them to follow him. Trusting the dog’s instincts, rescue workers followed him. After a few minutes, Hero brought them to burned-out tree, which contained a very sick mother and her ten newborn puppies, one of whom had nearly frozen to death.

Dogrrr-Rescue took the whole family to receive help, and all of them are going to be healthy and happy! You can see more of Hero’s incredible effort below, as well as an update on the rescued pups.

Hero embodies his name, and proves once again how brilliant and caring animals really are.

You may not need or want to adopt a pet but this site will give you smiles. If you check daily on the top of their e-mail page, each check brings food from sponsors to shelters throughout the country. We owe it to our furry friends to help them. They have no-one else.
