Marco Rubio Melts Down Into A Puddle Of Science Denying Bigotry On Face The Nation
By: Jason Easley
Sunday, April, 19th, 2015, 3:11 pm

In a matter of a few minutes, Sen. Marco Rubio went from touting his young and fresh ideas to melting into a pile science denying, warmongering, bigotry on CBS’s Face The Nation.

Transcript via Face The Nation:

SCHIEFFER: When we sat down with Marco Rubio at the Manchester Community College, he had choice words on Hillary Clinton, said, flatly, we may have to go to war with the Iranians to stop them from building a nuclear weapon. And he talked candidly about deciding to run against his friend and mentor Jeb Bush.

We started with a simple question. Why do you want to be president?

RUBIO: I believe the country is living a historic moment. It’s transitioning into this post-industrial era, an era of extraordinary opportunity.

Our ideas are now allowing our nation to fulfill its potential in this new century. I believe I have the ideas for the country. I believe I have the vision for the country. I believe I am positioned to help lead this country to this new American century.

I think the 21st century is going to be better than the 20th century. But there’s some things we are going to have to do to make that happen.

SCHIEFFER: You said the other day that this election presents a generational choice about what kind of country we’re going to be. Didn’t we just do that?

RUBIO: Well, we — I think Obama campaigned on some of those themes. Unfortunately, his ideas don’t help achieve it. It’s not just enough to have new ideas. They have to be good ideas.

After not really answering the question about why he wants to be president, Rubio gave voters a sample of his “new ideas.”

Here’s Rubio on climate change, “I believe climate is changing because there’s never been a moment where the climate is not changing. The question is, what percentage of that or what is due to human activity? If we do the things they want us to do, cap and trade, you name it, how much will that change the pace of climates change vs. how much will it cost to our economy? Scientists can’t tell us what impact it would have on reversing these changes. But I can tell you with certainty it would have a devastating impact on our economy.”

Later, Sen. Rubio talked about same-sex marriage, “Well, first, it’s not that I’m against gay marriage. I believe the definition of the institution of marriage should be between one man and one woman….And I don’t believe same-sex marriage is a constitutional right.”

Sen. Rubio also told Bob Schieffer that war with Iran is on the table, “If you cross this threshold, you will face military action on the part of the United States. We don’t want that to happen. But the risk of a nuclear Iran is so great that that option must be on the table.”

Rubio’s fresh new Republican ideas for the 21st Century involve discriminating against gays, denying the science behind climate change and war with Iran. The self-described young and fresh Republican is carrying around the same old and tired Republican ideas.

Rubio went from touting himself as the fresh young Republican leader for a new century to expressing your senior citizen Fox News watching neighbor’s views on gay marriage and climate change. As soon as Rubio left behind his campaign slogans, what was revealed was more of the same.

Marco Rubio’s young and fresh campaign can’t hide the musty smell of its old and unpopular Republican ideas.

As shocking as it is to our sensibilities and values, Rubios words are not campaign killers.

Similarly, Hillary's outspoken support for marriage rights does not assure her the nomination and may not help much in the general, should she be the candidate.

I wish it weren't so, but this is America.

That was by a hacked electronic machine that made up numbers representing votes. (A hack "elected by" a hack...) Neither one constitutes a genuine election, in reality.

If we can get rid of Rush Limbaugh from radio when he deemed himself to be untouchable (he is still around but significantly weakened by the "Flush Rush" and other campaigns), then why can't we start divesting and boycotting anyone and everyone involved in buying of government?

The ONLY thing these sons-of-bitches care about is profit.

Its time to stop using a co-opted, bought off and broken political process to do what only economic impact can achieve.
If you donate or use corporate money to make donations, then you are the enemy.

It is time to start turning the tide one dollar, one lost sale, one bad word of mouth review at a time.

For anyone who "wants 'their' country back", get on board to make real change, because when you got all ginned up about the black man in the white house, you got played like a cheap flute. Get in the real fight...vote your OWN interests and not those of the liars and abusers who treat you like so much chattel.

Iowa should be ground zero this summer. We need to support those who are going to the state to spread this message: Business as usual is over. It's time to tear down the wall (with all due respect to Pink Floyd).

As a general rule, I dislike the use of republican candidates being used to try to scare voters into supporting a damaged Democratic candidate.

However, individuals such as Rubio, Bush, and Paul are so toxic, that they present an exception.

I am particularly concerned that some people might mistake Rand Paul as offering some common ground. That is an illusion. (Or, delusion.) He is a dangerous politician.

says that I over-estimate Rand Paul's abilities. I tell him that it isn't that I believe Paul is so capable, as that I think his appeals to anxiety and fear will connect with people. Synergism, I suppose.

I've been considering writing an OP about the dangerous, fake "appeal" that Paul specifically has to a segment of Democrats .....not because they are "bad" (stupis or disloyal) -- but because he is a snake.

One never knows how a given OP might be received these days! But I suppose I'll take a shot at it soon.

There's vast evidence the man has lied about his education, what he said while supporting his pop v. what his message is now, he seems to me to be another pol who changes his position on what people want to hear. For better or worse, our current prez has not done that.

And as always, I love you, and always have! I am happy to call you my friend!

He's not against gay marriage, except that he is.

By the by, Waterboy, you are in the party that spent the first two years of the Clinton presidency trying to convince the American public the tax increases he signed into law were going to destroy the economy, and the last two years of it trying to spend the surplus he created.

Instead of talking about issues, talk about cheerleader-wife & movie star ex-bro-in-law. The ex-bro is Carlos PONCE, the Yoga instructor from Couples Retreat.

Que pareja mas bella! Carlos and his ex-wife Veronica, who also happens to be Sen. Marco Rubio’s sister, were high school sweethearts. The couple married in October 1996 and had four kids together – two boys and twin girls. Sadly, the two Miamians divorced in 2009. But how lovely would it be to see this family together again?
