Would you be directly affected by an approved Time Warner/Comcast merger?

According to estimates the merger would give Comcast control of 57% of the nation's broadband business and 30% of its cable business.

I would be. I live in a Time Warner city and would be absorbed into the Comcast hegemony. The good news for me is that FiOS is available here, so I can immediately cancel service if the merger goes through. Others are not so lucky, I am sure.

3. Yes--I have XFINITY and I have a relative who has TW. TW sucks compared to my service.

One might as well assume that when it comes to news, they all have a right wing bias, so it's not that aspect that troubles me. My internet throughput and channel selection beat that of my TW relations. I wouldn't want to see that degrade as a consequence of some merger.

In time, I suspect, with "a la carte" becoming more popular, we're going to see more changes ahead when it comes to these issues.

9. I don't have many complaints against Comcast. But AT&T ... THAT was the worst.

Comcast has a service center in my town manned but REAL, LIVE PEOPLE. AT&T did not, so if we needed new equipment it was done by mail. When the internet went down, which was frequent, tech support always blamed the modem and said one would be sent to us in three to four days. You can't operate a home business when internet and phone are both down for days.

AT&T was just awful.

Comcast has been pretty reliable, albeit expensive.

Comcast is pricey, but I've been much happier with their service and reliability than I was with AT&T. I know from the sounds of it I may be in the minority on that.

Nuts! Help is always awful. Selections terrible unless you have big bucks for the super offerings. For me, it is basic cable. Cannot afford anything better but with the channel selection I have, I might as well have nothing.

I can receive channels 2 thru 22, minus a few blanks. No programming on certain ones within this range. If I subtract the foreign language channels, home shopping, Fox news and my local channel, I get about 8 options from which to choose. You guessed it, I don't watch TV very much.
There is no option with my service for a programming listing and I can't sit in front of the TV searching for something worthwhile.

Sure miss the old days when we had another carrier and had real options. Time moves on but I sure wish we had a la carte options. Maybe someday.......

My only other options here are U-verse, which SUCKS horribly here, or a dish.

Really a bummer. I got pissed at TW a couple years ago with the blackouts and had U-Verse installed. It was atrocious. Internet speeds were fractions of TW and the equipment had to be replaced twice in 2 weeks.

They are a separate company but Time Warner Roadrunner provides email, and I think other services? It's like Time Warner is their background?
