Part two of Republicans are thy enemy.

Yesterday I posted that if we do not treat Republicans as our enemy we will lose.

Quite a few disagreed---some stating that they have family members who are Republican, how can they be my enemy.

Others stated that they are fellow Americans---some suggested enemy relates to war---and they are anti-war.

Well I hate to tell you--- It is war!

The Republicans most certainly think it's war and they will use everything in their arsenal to win the war.

Money
The Courts
Congress
Fox

I have thought for years that the lefts passive approach to politics is why we are faced with a stacked court, why Citizens United exists, why the earth is under severe distress, why women are under attack, and why we shit all over the world with our military.

I get it--- we all have colleagues, family and friends who are Republican. Maybe I should have been a bit more clear with my first Op.

The enemy is the ideology of Republicanism.

Carry the battle to them. Don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don't ever apologize for anything. Harry Truman

The Civil War divided families. And we are in that kind of political war with GOPPERS. If you vote GOP you are a fool, an idiot, a collaborator or a sucker. It is really true if you are a working person or are poor.

The left is too passive with these assholes. We need to bitch slap them all the way to eternity politically if necessary Take the rhetorical gloves off and expose these racist, bigoted anti American pricks for what they are. If they are family too bad disown them.

and every time we try to do something or ask for something that is typically good for the people and solidly liberal you will see most of the dems bringing it down before the republicans even get a chance. When was the last time some nutbag R brought up something that was shot down by his/her party? Alan West anyone? Sara Palin?

We do not need to be solidly in sync with each other. We can be all manner of liberal but we simply will never win if we shoot down candidates as unelectable and when we shoot down anything that is not immediately palatable to the RW even though they will scream about it anyway.

Did you ever think that denying birth control would be an issue? A nutbag brought it up and they all sat and watched and when they got some support from the usual suspects they ran with it. Now look where we are. They never undermine each other until it is a sure thing it is even too crazy for them.

And its been the same cabal of corporate plutocrats, who have been behind the propaganda campaign for the past 100 years. They are the elite who control our Governments worldwide. They are the enemy. Fox News is the enemy. Heres a stat I thought should get its own thread.

How many Pulitzer's FoxNews won.

The Pulitzer prizes were just given out. As usual, the NYTimes won a couple, as did the Wall Street Journal. Interestingly, FoxNews didn't win any this year. In fact, the total is telling...

Ok, ok... I know. Pulitzers are part of the vast left wing conspiracy to silence the truth.

So let's look at some of the other awards given out to journalism.

News & Documentary Emmy Awards
PBS has won 88
FoxNews 0

Alfred I. duPont-Columbia University Awards
NPR 17
FoxNews 0

Gerald Loeb Awards
WSJ 4
FoxNews 0

Edward R. Murrow Awards
CBS News 25

Investigative Reporters and Editors Awards
CBS News 5

No respected members of the journalism community view Fox News Channel as news.

Snake oil salesmen like Rush Limbau are on the air because the corporations actually own the airwaves and can do what they want. we allowed that under Reagon. We gave away the airwaves. The radio bandwidth
the original FCC requirement that the media must serve the local market has been abandoned.
So We are assaulted 24/7 by the propaganda ministry. It is a crime.

The SC is so obviously corrupt when they issue these insane rulings. They over rule the American electorate and they cavort with neo con criminals ?

I had a friend who was a normal person until he started listening to Limbau and joined a sportsmans club.
He turned into a dick and made his wife who was a cool progressive girl into a raging homo phobe. Sorry, hes the enemy too. So is she.

Its boorish behaviour. Its pack mentality. Perhaps anyone can be brain washed if they will allow them selves to be brain washed. Its a choice. The issues can seem like a fine line when they are actually very deep and obvious when its about equality, or human rights. Its easy to go along and not require deep thinking. Its even easier to ignore it all and not even vote. I know people like that. I know people like that who do vote also. They are people who may wake up if they discover they care.

I have lived in South America and have seen what happens when people become fanatics of a "leader", it doesn't matter if they are family, for some reason that I am still trying to understand, they will place party before family.

I have seen family members turn their backs to their own siblings and parents because of difference of opinions regarding politics, and I have lost "friends" because we differing political ideas, and that is here in the USA. Of course, if they stopped being "friends" because of that, they were never real friends.

The best action is to help understand our family and friends, who support republicans, that we are in this together, it is not a question of party, it is a question of country. It is not easy, I know that, but the strategy is not to argue but to throw subtle ideas to them and make them think.

But I do agree with trumad, it is war, but it has to be fought with the brain, and subtlety.

Wed Apr 22, 2015, 06:23 PM
Apr 2015

... we have to convince millions of Republican voters (including relatives, friends, & co-workers) they are voting against their own interests and the interests of their children.

If we attack those people and treat them as enemies, we will push them farther away and into the mindset that has been spun for them by the plutocracy. The Powers That Be WANT us at each other's throats!

A wise man once said A house divided against itself cannot stand.

This applies to the American people today. As long as we are bitterly divided against ourselves we will never learn to work together for our own common interests.

I am not suggesting we back down and surrender. Far from it. We need to step up our game and be relentless in educating, persuading, and making our case in the strongest terms possible.

Yes, it's absolutely true that many diehard teabaggers have poisoned minds and will never be won over. Some people are a waste of time and effort -- including wasting time telling them what stupid idiots & bigots they are. Feels good in the short term, but does not advance our cause.

Our best hope lies in young people. Get them thinking and get them involved.

Because of it, we experience a slow continual poisoning of the body politic (ie Faux Noise et al). Suffer through heightened levels of fear and anger (ie the murder of Michel Brown and it's aftermath). Are so distracted by it, we lose track of what's going on around us ( ie climate change). Are so miserable, we would trade body parts to get some relief (ie militarized police). We would listen to witchdoctors (the rise of fundamentalism) and crazy relatives (Tea party).
This cyst serves no more purpose than to act as a distraction from the actual cause of our affliction, the giant parasite we house within the body politic; corporatism. As it was intended to do when implanted by Nixon and metastasized by Reagan.

Were the whole of the population of the United States to be manifested in a single individual to serve as the host to a manifestation of or parasite. There would be one poor bastard standing there with a protuberance the size and general shape of a humpback whale sticking out his abdomen, screaming to the wilderness "I'm the biggest baddest one here".

Very true. But from my experience with my Republican (now)ex-friends and family, pointing out that anything is wrong with the ideology is as good as an attack on them personally.

They, at the blink of an eye, have turned into vile, foul-mouthed people that I don't recognize. The personal attacks on my patriotism and character have been stunning and mind boggling.

This, from those that have never served, which includes a family of 14, with the exception of one son of said family.

They also go to church regularly say (often) how religious they are and how much they love Jesus and god.

I only have a very minimal amount of contact with them now. I haven't seen most of them for years although we live in the same area. (within a several local county area)

They showed how much they cared when I almost died a couple of years ago and then spent 4 months in a nursing home.

Not a singe republican family or friend, sent a card, called, or came to see me and I haven't heard from any of them in the 2+ yrs. that I've been home.

People like that I don't need or want.
