WASHINGTON -- Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign is launching a major grassroots organizing effort Wednesday, sending staffers to every single state to start building an infrastructure of volunteers ready to pound the pavement.
What's being called the "Ramp Up Grassroots Organizing Program" will have paid staffers in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and the territories through the end of May. They'll be working with Clinton supporters to organize local meetings, volunteer trainings and other grassroots events, according to the campaign.
Wednesday's announcement recalls the "50-state strategy" pushed by former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean when he was chair of the Democratic National Committee from 2005 to 2009. Dean argued that Democrats shouldn't concede any state as "unwinnable" and should invest resources in building an infrastructure in every single state -- a strategy Clinton will be testing should she make it to the general election.
Since jumping into the race, Clinton has focused on smaller, more intimate events, meeting with students at a rural community college in Iowa, for example, and spotlighting a message of middle-class economics. Next month, however, she'll have a larger rally, and these state teams will organize house parties for people to watch the kick-off.

(45,806 posts)would have won the Presidency if the MEDIA hadn't distorted his mike during that rally. Obviously they didn't want him to win and took measures to make sure he didn't. Still pisses me off.
I think Hillary is wise to use that strategy. Many southerners really liked Bill and I think will see her as a similar candidate. She can also take advantage of a number of southern women who would love to see a woman in that office.

(45,806 posts)in the south. I'm one of those folks they call a "Damn Yankee". (Someone from the north who moves to the south and STAYS!) I was relocated by my job back in 1987, then transferred to two other southern states over 20 some years. I waws shocked when I saw some of the open hatred. I'm now retired, and stayed in Ga. because my son & grandkids live and work here. I HATE that part of living here. At least there seems to be one positive though...most of the younger generation isn't like that, and the real haters are finally dying off.
Having said that, I suspect you'll see quite a few women voting for Hillary, but men????? Probably not. You see, the men also don't believe a woman belongs in ANY leadership position.

H Dean's strategy is the only way to defeat the RW 2016.
They are too wealthy & too corrupt to play it any other way than State by State.

So many Democrats don't bother to vote lately because Oklahoma has gone so red.
Many counties in Oklahoma have more Democrats registered than Republicans

so if she can gin up some enthusiasm, we might get some of the assholes out of the legislature.

It's one of the reasons folks point to for his close loss.
