OMG! Bloomberg actually reports that Hillary helped negotiate the TPP!

http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/articles/2015-04-21/martin-o-malley-seizes-on-hillary-clinton-s-vulnerability-on-trans-pacific-partnership

It's no mystery why the TPP, as it is commonly known, is the ad's subject. Hillary Clinton has been under pressure from progressives to pull her support for the emerging trade deal, which she helped to negotiate as secretary of state and championed as recently as November 2012, when she declared in a speech in Australia, “we need to keep upping our game both bilaterally and with partners across the region through agreements like the Trans-Pacific Partnership or TPP. ... This TPP sets the gold standard in trade agreements to open free, transparent, fair trade, the kind of environment that has the rule of law and a level playing field. And when negotiated, this agreement will cover 40 percent of the world's total trade and build in strong protections for workers and the environment.”

"just following orders" is used when someone does something immoral or illegal.
Clinton doing work for Obama was neither

I'm struggling to understand how folks who have been screaming about TPP for many years now had no idea that the SOS, and the state department, were heavily involved.

Was that a big secret?

... for quite a few years now, and has been discussed many times right here on DU.

In fact, I am surprised at your surprise, in that you posted about it yourself back in July 2013:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/101667554

In fact, your OP title was "Hillary Clinton's Business Legacy at the State Department (leading part in drafting TPP)," and you bolded this line from the text: "She’s (Hillary) also taken a leading part in drafting the Trans-Pacific Partnership, the free-trade pact that would give U.S. companies a leg up on their Chinese competitors."

In addition, as JoePhilly has already pointed out, it is amazing how many self-styled TPP "experts" here didn't know the basic fact that as SoS, HRC would of course have been involved in the negotiations.

At about 1:00 the nodding part is all over and they just blather on and on about politics (just plain old insipid blather) so no need to watch beyond 1:00. They claim it isn't doctored video (presumably meaning that its not on a loop and there isn't any repetition of segments, but that's just a guess on my part on what they mean).

It amazes me how HRC supporters first say she was "only" following orders and when called on it then switch gears by saying her involvement "was well known" as if that somehow exonerates her from any backlash.

... to an HRC supporter saying that "Hillary was only following orders"?

Of course you don't.

The term "just following orders" is a loaded one, and is a far cry from a SoS handling the responsibilities of their job - one of which would be involvement in int'l trade agreements.

As for her involvement being "well known", anyone with even a modicum of knowledge about what a SoS does would know that she would have had a role in the TPP, and would not need to have so obvious a fact pointed out to them.

In addition, it is rather amazing that the OP would think these facts were "news", given that they posted an OP on the topic back in July 2013:
