In order to "stop the violence."
Does anyone find that in any way ironic?

(14,040 posts)Baltimore. Some of the Facebook posts I've seen look like a Klan convention.

And I'm always taken aback when I see blatant racism.

(5,790 posts)Many of my classmates are FB friends, and many of them have gone hard right, politically. Most of what I've seen is along the lines of "the violence is disgusting" and "support the police", but I've seen some fairly racist comments as well. Currently, I'm seeing a lot of sharing of the video of the mom beating her kid for taking part in the riots.

(3,469 posts)My high school "friends" on Facebook are pretty far right, too. I always kind of shake my head at the whole red state/blue state-south bashing on DU. Maryland is reliably blue and yet I'd say 85% of the counties are very conservative. I lived on the Eastern Shore for a long time and I don't think I ever saw a Gore or Obama sign but lots and lots of Bush, McCain and Romney signs. Maryland has a big teabagger streak.
