Taking bets: what prissy DC establishment think tank will Dick Lugar join after he loses tomorrow?

Concord Coalition? Council on Foreign Relations? RAND? Maybe start his own? It'll have to be in DC, because after all, that is his permanent home. And who would want to miss Sally Quinn's Georgetown cocktail parties?

And I'm sure he'll be anointed one of the Wise Men who periodically writes NYT and WP editorials lamenting how much partisanship there is in Washington, and "Oh can't we just all get along like we did in the good old days"?

And "write a book," and go on a book tour, blah-blah-blah...

We all know how that game is played. He'll be busy burnishing his own little place in Senate history, and the marketability of his name and "brand." 'Cause he's probably going to be thinking he'll have earned his place on the gravy train into a nice comfy retirement.
