It really is an eye-opening example of how this country works. Oh sure, when word got out that these two gazillionaires hosted a fund raiser for Ted Cruz, and were called on it, they fell all over themselves in a "golly-gee, we didn't know what a complete asshat Cruz is toward the LGBT community" apology.
B******t!!! Only if you lived under a rock could you possibly not know what Ted Cruz stands for. Not knowing where Cruz stands when it comes to LGBT rights is about a likely as you being struck by lightning, while being eaten by a shark, as you're winning the Powerball Lottery.
They knew! You see, they "love" Cruz' ideas and policies when it comes to protecting the wealthy and the well-to-do, and they don't give a crap about his Neanderthal views on LGBT people, because they know that they have the power, and the wealth, and the connections, that they wouldn't have to deal with, or be affected by the 1920's legislation this asshat would try to push through.
It's a perfect example of how the pain of Republican idiocy is only felt by the poor and the working class.
Just as no rich women would ever be denied access to an abortion, so would no rich LBGT person ever have to deal with the hatred, bigotry and vitriol that a poor or middle class person would.
All that suffering and shame is only for the "little people".

When I heard about this story you are talking about, I thought my gawd, how PISSED must the gay community be at them.

(14,449 posts)How do you think Republicans have increased the percentage of gay right and gay marriage? Because they met someone who is gay and a dialogue was started. Yes it's a shame that Republicans can't naturally be brought to the table easily and must arrive kicking and screaming but they slowly are. Bruce will do wonders for the community. Cruz says he'd love his daughter if she were gay. If not for theses friends and the friend from college I don't even think he'd be that close to acceptance. Our close the door is not the way to change minds. We can win the acceptance of all or super majority but not if we kick those trying to make a difference. I am so surprised. Aren't we the party of tolerance?

(9,461 posts)Cruz' opposition to the Iran nuclear deal. The gentleman is Jewish first, gay second. It may even be, wealthy first, Jewish second and gay third or some combination thereof.
Make no mistake, some of the more hawkish Jewish Democrats may cross over to the GOP over the Iran nuclear deal. I'm okay with that, though.
