Aw, come on, Berniancs! It's comedy!

I get it! No one wants their beloved candidate to be made fun of. But seriously, folks, remember the SNL skit 3 am phone call with Obama and Hillary? It was funny as hell and we all know it. Comedians have been making fun of potential candidates for years and Senator Sanders will be no exception. You can expect SNL skits with "a Back to the Future" Bernie look alike. Jimmy Fallon dressed up in a Bernie Sanders wig, and jokes about "old white men." I fully expect tons of Hillary jokes once again. If O'Malley gets into the race, there will be an O'Malley look alike. Get some thicker skin folks. It's going to be fun.

at Bernie? Do tell. All I see are his supporters laughing about it and poking fun themselves.

Make stuff up much?

I'm sure they exist, but it's rare. Bernie's obviously ok with jibes. Otherwise, people who know him wouldn't feel free to introduce him this way:

Without Sanders having a paid campaign staffer yet in New Hampshire, or even a campaign office in Vermont, Ropp said she got a call asking to host earlier in the week “from a friend of a friend” who had started volunteering for the campaign.

Ropp introduced Sanders as the candidate of the “12-hour filibuster and the $12 haircut,” referring to his opposition to tax cuts during Obama’s first term, and his frizzy white hair.

From the NH article you posted earlier.

especially in its full context:

"Apparently people really want to see a pot-smoking socialist in the White House. We could get a third Obama term after all."

Even if he hadn't added that last line (which was the real punchline), I would've found the preceding line funny.

I don't like cheap shots or the kind of mean-spirited "humor" that Limbaugh and his ilk spew, but I'm the first to say all candidates are fair game when it comes to satire and comedy.

And PS: If supporters of Bernie are to be given a label, I prefer "Sandernista" myself.

And thanks for adding the full punch line.

Good humor and an appreciation of it is a very appealing quality in anyone.

Hillary's been on the scene for over two decades, longer for those who paid attention to her as Arkansas First Lady. There's not much left to joke about. Bernie is fresh meat. As will be O'Malley. I imagine the O'Malley jokes will be beefcake and banjo related. I can live with that.
