If they're so worried about training operations by the military there, they should be even more worried about all of the military bases already in the state. Maybe the governor should call out the Texas National Guard to shut them all down and force the military out of Texas altogether. Here's a list:

I did my USAF Basic Training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, and some further training at Goodfellow AFB near San Angelo. I suspect that those bases, and all the rest of them in the list above have some major impact on the economy of that state. But, who knows what takeover of Texas is being planned at those bases. Texas should worry, I'm sure.

(12,504 posts)I've tossed that idea around a little lately too. Tx can't survive without Fed Funds, I think pulling out of TX would play into a financial boon to the rest of the nation.

(38,453 posts)That is correct..kick out all the military bases. How much money do those bases bring into the economy there? More than a few millions I would say. Maybe tens of millions added to the economy

(146,338 posts)Texas is a major military state, and relies on its bases for a sizable portion of its economy, especially in cities where military bases are near.
Actually, federal contract spending alone in Texas adds up to almost $20 Billion annually. You can see the rest below:
Texas
Federal contract spending $19,424,005,000
Department of Defense spending $13,149,553,000
National Aeronautics And Space Administration spending $3,787,837,000
The total is more than $35 Billion federal dollars going to Texas, just in those numbers alone. Only California gets more.

I live in Minnesota. Quite a contrast. Here's what the feds spend in my state:
Minnesota
Federal contract spending $1,888,749,000
Department of Defense spending $1,458,746,000
