Our friends in the Sanders camp are naturally exuberant at Bernie's entry, and some trash-talking ("the Clinton campaign is scared!"; "What will Clinton supporters do when Bernie wins?"; "Who should be in Bernie's cabinet"?) is to be expected. When we respond (with appropriate snippiness), the result is a series of flame-wars which gets everyone grumpy. So maybe we should give them their space, and remember that what happens here has little bearing on the real world outside the blogosphere, where Clinton still has widespread support among Democrats (including Liberals) and still knocks off every Republican we're likely to face.

(45,481 posts)Democratic candidates up without tearing down other Democratic candidates. At the end we all want a Democratic in the WH and Democratic majorities in Congress and Governorships. We need to work to achieve this and not run a scorched earth policy over the Democratic Party and DU.

So expect even more mocking of Sanders and his positions (although that's already started to some degree with the comments about his hair).
"Then they fight you...." (Not there yet but this is inevitable since this is a primary).
"Then you win"!

(5,279 posts)Both the HRC and Bernie are understandably excited and proud. Both are good candidates. Compared to the current republican field, they are phenomenal candidates. Like comparing apple pie a'la mode to an atomic wedgie for dessert.
One of the best aspects I have seen is the volunteering each is getting. *fucking good*. It is far past time we took to the streets. Not marching in protest, but walking neighborhoods handing out leaflets and talking to people. Engaging their to become more active. 18 months in advance of one of the most important elections in the history of the United States (not to put too fine a point on it).

(30,481 posts)a really good person who we should be supporting also. That is possible. Doesn't matter if they feel the same about our candidate. I don't need to respect them in order to respect Sanders. Although I am sure I would respect almost all of them. They have the easy job. Supporting and idea and hope. But it is Sanders who has earned the respect.

(18,115 posts)While she has a clear lead at this point, it is not at the level of some national polls that put her as high as 80%.
As we move along the campaign season, the race will tighten, her polling in the early states will keep sliding. She is not as inevitable as some suggest and as inevitable this time as in 2008.
