Rep. Steve Stivers (R-OH) to Martin Bashir on gay marriage..."I came on the show to talk about jobs"

Bashir confirmed that Stivers is against gay marriage (he is...he said "I believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman."

Bashir then asked "So men and women can serve in the Military and in other areas and give of themselves but they can't get married?"

Stivers replied "Well, a lot of things can happen. I came on the show to talk about jobs."

He's a great interviewer. If he senses that someone is throwing up a smokescreen and changing the subject, he'll politely let them finish what they're saying, take a brief pause to make sure they're finished, and then go right back to the question they refused to answer.

As I recall, all through 2010, the Republicans were relentlessly talking about jobs. Oh, if only they could capture a House majority, why, we'd have jobs coming out of our ears! It was going to be priority number 1, number 100, and everything in between. And sure as shootin', Stevo, when you and your Republican buddies convened the new Congress at the beginning of 2011, you . . . spent two days reading parts of the Constitution.

And that was about the high point of your efforts to create jobs.

Buttmunch.
