All are what I would describe as millennials. I thought they were fed up with "politics as usual"?

(3,724 posts)Looks like someone got their little feelings hurt by this. Good thing the jury was sensible enough to see through that ridiculous alert.

REASON FOR ALERT
This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate.
ALERTER'S COMMENTS
That was really shitty thing to say to another DUer.
The review was completed at Mon May 11, 2015, 05:55 AM, and the Jury voted 1-6 to LEAVE IT.
Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: That DUer that you're so worried about made a shitty comment, supposedly a 'joke', and got some shit in return. Leave it.
Juror #3 voted to HIDE IT
Explanation: Childish, spiteful, personal attack. n/t
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: oh come on. aargh
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: I think the post it responds to is an even shittier thing to say to another DUer.
Juror #6 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: No explanation given
Juror #7 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE
Explanation: Not as shitty as this alert.

(30,481 posts)It was taken too serious by some. To be clear, some kind of have a reason to be a little sensitive.
Two things I saw here last week. 1) One of DU's most prolific posters, always acting as if they are a far leftist, posted on opinion piece critical of Hillary written by none other than Andrew Malcolm. It was blatant ratfucking and no one in their right mind would deny it. The op an numerous other posters cheered Malcolm as if he were brilliant and his words were seriously hurting Hillary. 2) Numerous articles critical of Sanders past votes on gun control was brought about. Some of the posts were by posters who have never cared about gun control threads here before. They must not think people build a noticeable track record here. It was simply a shot at Sanders when they could really care less about the issue in the first place.
Seems some people, myself included, have gotten a little knee jerky. But numerous poor posting tactics have made it possible.

(50,912 posts)The beltway pundits want to confuse everyone about the facts. There will be a whole new group of young voters that have voted for the first time. And another group that voted in 2008 and 2012 that won't be able to vote in 2016 because they are dead. The majority of those had views that were extremely outdated.

(62,270 posts)I mean, even you said that they don't get a lot of sleep, so they have to be able to work around the clock, organizing and making things happen. And this is not to insult older people, but I think you want people who are super energetic and willing, and that's more likely to come from younger people.
Millennials get enough crap as it is.

BTW, I housed Obama staff at my house in Ohio in 2008.

(25,699 posts)So how does that work, anyway, do you just run like a room-for-a-night thing? Are your doors open to anyone, or is there like a thing hwere you get a call from the campaign saying there's omeone who needs a couch to snooze on?
Cali_Democrat
(30,439 posts)That's good news.
I wish more people would be like you and really be a part of a Democratic candidate's campaign.
I did quite a bit of work for Obama in 2008 & 2012....I even travelled to Vegas to knock on doors.
What a cool experience it was.
Good luck to you.

(89,248 posts)sometimes the candidates themselves will also spend a night at someone's home .
i think it might depend on how involved people are . i never stayed over at someone's home but i did go over to do some campaigning and make calls and things and usually they would just contact the nearest campaign office for help or how they can help.

(94,520 posts)...these are senior staff arriving in NYC who haven't arranged housing yet.
Point 2 - this is for free; we're housing them for 2-3 weeks each.
Point 3 - the campaign actually approached us through common political contacts and asked if we could.
Point 4 - we can do better than couches. We have a 4 story house (that's how they made them in NYC) with an extra floor for guests.

(1,290 posts)Including with some people who are now Clinton staffers, thank you. People don't realize how hard it is to find housing when you do political work sometimes: you move to a whole new place, hit the ground running, all the while promised housing contacts for short-term and shorter-term stays. Many traveling political operatives have to either break their leases early or negotiate a very short one (like 6 months) if they can't stay with a supporter.
And if people are confused: yes I support Bernie, but the Clinton people are good Democrats too. We're all better than Republicans.
