This was from a RWer tweet yesterday. There were, of course, several "I agree" replies & over 150 retweets.
Besides the fact the original was, acc'd to profile pic, a young woman who looks like she'd run to ER f/ broken fingernail, I question the original bigoted premise that the top half was "unAmerican" or "un-patriotic."
Am I being sensitive to the obvious racism or are those 2 women just showing they're strong Americans who intend to fight f/ promised rights? Yes, they could have taken the pic w/ flag hanging behind, but is standing on it with that pose necessarily an affront (besides fact that it really shouldn't be on the ground)?

That people are threatened or angered about demeaning (if that is what this is) a piece of cloth, well I just dont know what to say.
If they want to be upset about something, how about this

(15,805 posts)I've never known a rightwinger who wasn't affected by imagery, fakery, slogans and popular buzzwords. Toss in some patriotic word salad, add a dash of racism, a smidgen of bigotry, turn up the jingoistic martial music, and watch the tribalism unfold.
Flag etiquette is not even a factor. Over the checkered course of history it has stood as both the representative icon for our extraordinary accomplishments and appalling regrets. For good or evil, the flag is a representation, symbol of a powerful moment of protest.
It is "unAmerican" NOT to defend the right of anyone to exercise their Constitutional right to freely denounce government policies. People have the right to protest the actions of a government they strongly disagree with. Whether it's in the form of waving the iconic emblems that represent it, or defacing them, it is all protected speech.
