You didn't think that the TTP and TTIP are the only upcoming trade agreements, did you?

Here's what keeps me up at night (OK, I only sleep 3 or 4 hours a night anyway):
Lots of tiny fig leaves in the form of language that is purposely formulated to deceive. `In other words, language that sounds good but doesn't really mean what it ostensibly says. isn't legally binding, and/or punches lots of loopholes into the fabric of the texts.
This is hardly uncommon. It's happened in the TPA. We see it in language in the leaked draft chapters. It worries me so much because it's so difficult to expose and gives lawmakers cover should they so desire it.
Here's an examplez' The analysis may seem dry and technical, but it is very revealing on the point of language that sounds good and doesn't do what it professes to.

(14,255 posts)There are demonstrations against the TPP in other TPP signatory countries. Just Google TTIP protest europe or TPP protest mexico or new zealand, for examples.
I guess they must not love Obama either.
Blaming opposition to the TPP (or TTIP) on feelings about Obama is childish. And totally unrealistic.

(114,904 posts)it's interesting that some think that calling Warren and Sanders and many others liars, is fine but when President Obama is called on his dishonest claims and comments, they howl about disrespecting the President and racism.
But that's just ll food fight personality crap. I'm much more concerned with issues like the one in the OP.

(14,971 posts)New Zealand and elsewhere in the EU were so relieved it got blocked. The British think passage of the TTIP will mean the end of the NHS.

(14,255 posts)When a simple Google can tell you protest is not localized. I guess they could drop further down the rabbit hole and say that ALL the protests, all over the world, are because they just don't love Obama. Maybe that is next.

(114,904 posts)It may be too complex for you and too technical, but at least attempt to comment substantively... on substance
his isn't bullshit and it's hardly novel. the history of language being used in legislation to obfuscate and muddle, is rich. That's not guessing or speculation. That's fact.

(114,904 posts)I like how reliable you are. Trust the President. Trust HRC. Don't think about or address issues and policy except in the context of trusting those politicians.
You are a great illustration of the politics of personality.
