I voted for this asshole in November because the Republican was a lunatic. However, I did vote against this conservative POS in the primary. He's also a big fan of the austerity and Simpson/Bowles catfood commission.
Steve Duin: Schrader curtly shreds the EPA
....
For those who have nodded off, the feds labeled the polluted harbor a Superfund site in 2000. The estimated bill for the clean-up ranges from $200 million to $1.8 billion, depending on how much of the contaminated sediment is removed. Fourteen "potentially responsible parties" -- including the city, the Port and Northwest Natural -- long ago joined forces as the Lower Willamette Group (LWG) to assess health risks, challenge the EPA, and lobby congressmen.
Schrader -- one of the last of the fiscally conservative Blue Dog Democrats -- is a huge fan of the LWG. "Here you have a collaborative partnership willing to step up," he lectured EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy in February, "and they're getting beaten up on a regular basis, with unrealistic requirements and expectations."
.....
Not enough of them, clearly, have Schrader's ear. "Our party has gotten to be a party of liberal elites," he said Tuesday. "That's great if you want to be in the minority for the next 30 years. That's not where America is. Democrats have left our lunch-bucket allies behind."
When that blue-state voice and those Blue Dog politics are so prominent in the Superfund debate, you can understand why there's so much doggone tension in the room.
Those poor companies "getting beaten up on a regular basis, with unrealistic requirements and expectations." I feel so bad for them having to clean up the mess they created.

(181 posts)I told him that I understood he had a difficult district....but I couldn't abide most of his votes. I don't live in his district and since Walden (and I can't stand ANY of his votes) is MUCH worse than him I can't give you a lot of sympathy.

(19,537 posts)... when I actually had money then to spend, and was told we needed to keep his district in Democrat's hands when it was the most threatened seat here in Oregon.
You just insulted me and if I get a postage paid envelope to send you any kind of donation again, I'll send you a note saying "from a liberal elite you love so much" some heavy cheap piece of lead or something else worthless that will just take money out of your campaign instead of putting money in to it!
