The former secretary of state on 2016 presidential candidate will hold events in Texas from June 3-4, according to MSNBC. Though Texas would be a tough get for any Democratic nominee in a general election, Clinton has pledged to campaign in every state and build a strong national grassroots coalition.
Clinton, who won the 2008 Texas primary, may overlap with former Gov. Rick Perrys June 4 presidential announcement in Dallas. It is not known where and when Clintons events will be.
RNC spokeswoman Ruth Guerra criticized Clinton for campaigning instead of responding to questions about her State Department tenure.

Texas is a state that needs to be fought for. There are many very progressive communities in Texas that are thriving. Young and forward thinking areas. They need support from the leaders of the party so the progressive movement in Texas can continue to grow.

If the Democrats spend money there to reach Democrats, Republicans will have to work to protect ground that they consider their God Given Right.

(30,481 posts)Hillary isn't going to let Republicans have the state unchallenged if she is the candidate for President. Over 268,000 square miles with almost 27 million people. It is going to take a lot of money to reach those people. She knows this as do other people educated in politics. It's great she is going into the lions den and taking the republicans on in their own home state. Texas will turn. Maybe not this election, but in the next decade. The voices of the sane are winning. Hillary is one of those voices.

(15,429 posts)Building those strong presences first gives the advantage in the caucuses, she'll not be flanked on the caucuses again.
Second, it insures House seats are retained and gives the chance at picking up a few that are currently red.
