I live in the NW corner of Washington - Olympic Peninsula. The other day we saw what was probably a test flight of a new jet as it was circling etc. It had a small plane traveling with it - off to the side, sometimes forward and back. What does the small plane do in that case. When the test flight of the 787 went over a couple years ago it didn't have any escort.
Thanks for anyone who can fill me in.

If that is the case, they were positioning so the Olympic Mt. range would be in the background so it makes sense.
