Romney is such an ignorant asshole

His response and reaction to his former classmate's accusations of bullying gay classmates in his youth are just atrocious for anyone aspiring to become president in 2012. He's "obviously" sorry "if anybody was hurt by that or offended," but he can't remember? Is that better that he can't recall being such a shithead?

Here we are, in an urgent struggle to put a lid on an epidemic of bullying in our schools (and elsewhere), much of the violence directed at youth much like the children Romney reportedly harassed. In his responses, Romney completely disregards and ignores the national campaign and efforts against bullying which most responsible pols and other adults are embracing and enlisting others to join in and help put a stop to the abuses. WHERE IS ROMNEY ON ANY OF THIS?

He's busy defending his sweet self, instead of offering even the tiniest bit of sympathy or acknowledgement of any of the present struggles among our nation's youth to overcome a legacy of ignorance and discrimination that is, in many ways, a product of his own generation.

Quick! Round up a few of the old gang to cover for him . . . that's what's important here, at least to this miserable wretch of a man.

But if he said he remembered he'd have to offer an (actual) apology which would piss off his "base", or else make light of the incident, which would piss off every decent American.

I mean we aren't talking about some schoolboy prank here. From the account I read it sounds like borderline assault, and maybe not too borderline at that.

A lapse of memory is the coward's way out of this corner he's been painted into. But then what other way would you expect him to take?

to come forward to defend him. Apparently, none of them really like the guy and won't come forward. Stunning.

Phillip Maxwell, an attorney in Michigan, confirmed to CBS News that the incident with John Lauber is accurately described in The Washington Post piece. Maxwell was one of the Post's four on-the-record sources. A fifth asked not to be named. Maxwell says the only thing not accurate is that the Post reporter said the incident occurred in a dorm room, but it happened in a common room.

"Mitt was a prankster, there's no doubt about it. This thing with Lauber wasn't a prank. This was, well, as a lawyer, it was an assault. It was an assault and a battery. And I'm sure that John Lauber carried it with him for the rest of his life," Maxwell told CBS News.
