(376 posts)I want the TLC to return to its roots - education.
If reality shows are needed, set up a high premium channel just for reality shows, 24/7.

(5,946 posts)do not attack my amazing race! I love adventure reality. Naked and afraid is endlessly interesting to me, I rewatch shows. then there are other extreme survival that are amazing. It doesn't have to be a competition, it just has to be an adventure. That and food around the world. I love seeing what not me is eating.
I think reality shows get a bad name because of all the fake watching someone else's life. I just want to share in adventures I will never take.

(5,946 posts)and that guy threatened the woman with a knife and the other woman cleaned a toilet with someone's tooth brush, kind of disgusted with all the casting from Boogie's bar.too many the same people looking to be an instant star without any talent. I just want to see out of the way places now.
give me an adventure i can dream about. I am officially too old and too out of shape for the amazing race, for years I could not find a partner. I still can't imagine anything more fun. I love seeing the world on these shows and even the airports are interesting.
another great show is Face Off on syfy where they apply theatrical makeup for make creatures. the imagination and talent of people is amazing. Don't care who wins, I just love seeing them work.

(68,918 posts)much help.
I've (sad admission here) watched every season of Big Brother and always say I'll break the addiction but then the end of June rolls around again. It's a terrific show.
While the idea of being on Amazing Race does not thrill me, I love the psychology of the matchups.
It's interesting how people watch for different reasons.
I watch Married at First Sight because the premise is incredible. The "experts" (psychologists) got 2 out of 3 of them right (so far) last season. This season, it looks to be a bit tougher.

(5,946 posts)which is a dance show, that is interesting, I like watching the routines, don't remember the people, don't care who wins, just enjoy the dances. and you can fast forward through it on demand
note if you are curious, it is on TruTV
I tend to watch when I can't sleep in the middle of the nights, so I go through everything worth watching "on demand" and find these weird shows to catch up on. Married at first sight was interesting the first year, you knew who would and would not make it by the third show, but this year the people are so disturbing, can not watch it, makes me very uncomfortable. one couple is bound for domestic abuse, and second one is just going to take themselves down by nibbles of push away, pursue, push away, pursue and so on, and the third one is just going to split up and blame each other.

(8,636 posts)Once upon a time, I held out hope that cable channels would allow quality educational and cultural programming. A&E was literallyArts and Entertainment years ago; now it's Dog the Bounty Hunter and Duck Dynasty.

Any bets on how soon this one blows up in TLC's face?
First dibs on mid October (17th-19th)of 2016. Just a guess on the dates, it would just make a better birthday for me.

(68,918 posts)is not quite as much religion-based, and they don't seem to be politi-bots. In fact the story of the dad losing half his family in a wreck that was made possible by license fraud under the administration of George Ryan (R) is tragic. Also, it appears the girls can show skin. Not something I'd watch, but I don't see too much to compare here.
