I took them over for a while too. I don't know how Jeff did it with his schedule because I had nothing else to do at the time, I was injured and home-bound, and it took up a lot of time. I didn't mind it though, it kept me busy and brought smiles to a lot of people... that's what really made it worth the effort.

Peace,

Ghost

Thanks so much for doing this, malaise.

Jeff's DUzies sometimes kept me reading into the wee hours thru a Friday night and Saturday morning, laughing all the way.

I sure wish that his collections could be memorialized in some way.

That's a good idea. Perhaps we can cut and paste all of them and have Earl G and Skinner save them in a JeffR Journal.

Hubby used to wonder what the hell was so funny and I'd read some of them

There was no greater honor here than receiving a DUzy.

Thoughts with JeffR, NanceGregg, loved ones and family.

If I made this homie laugh even once, that's a good goddamn thing.

but I definitely appreciated his work creating and running the DUzies, even though I think I only won one or two of them (only one that I can remember) and I think that I should be funnier than that.

And I was up early this morning doing the same thing. Damn. So many wonderful memories, so much funny, so many DUers who are long gone. It's actually kind of hard to bear - seeing what we once had, and contemplating how much has been lost.

Btw, JeffR's Journal is archived on DU2: http://journals.democraticunderground.com/?az=archives&j=1062&page=1 There are pages of DUzys from 2007, but none from 2008.

I found that I had a few 2008 DUzy threads saved in my DU2 bookmarks:

They are seriously funny, but I agree with you that it's hard to come to terms with how many of these great DUers are no longer with us.

JeffR was brilliant with them, I was always amazed at the amount of work it had to have been but they were hilarious. I got one! - I'm not sure if it was from JeffR or someone later, I was so stoked.

Thanks for this, malaise. I loved going back to read these.

Peace and comfort to Nance and all who knew and loved him - which I'm sure are many, many.
