Michelle Duggar accepted ‘Mother of the Year’ awards while covering up daughters' molestation

At the same time that Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar were covering up the fact that their eldest son Josh was molesting young girls — including his sisters — the mother of 19 was traveling around the country accepting awards for being “Mother of the Year.”

One of the awards she received was from a pastor who later left his ministry after admitting to adultery.

In a 2004 profile on CBS, entitled “What a Mother!” Michelle Duggar is quoted as saying, “We actually didn’t set out to have a large number of children. I don’t think that was our intention when we were first married. But I think we realized children are a gift.”

The CBS story on the Duggars was built upon Michelle Duggar being given the “Young Mother of the Year Award” in Arkansas, sponsored by American Mothers Incorporated.

At the time of that award, Michelle and Jim Bob Duggar were a year or two removed from hushing up the child molestation scandal that burst upon the scene this week.

Doug Phillips left Vision Forum (the organization which gave Mrs. Duggar the award and which had her speak at their conferences and sold video,) which was then dissolved. Boerne Christian Assembly, which he founded, excommunicated him.

And his nanny sued because apparently he'd been jacking off on her for years.

...this had on those girls who were molested?

This "mother" failed to protect them--and didn't do anything for an entire year after the parents knew Josh was molesting these girls.

Then she forces her daughters to continue living with their molester. A molester who was never treated.

All of this while accepting mommy awards.

Molestation victims often blame themselves. Can you imagine the blame, shame and self loathing they must have felt when the universe was telling them that their neglectful parents were worthy of mommy-of-the-year awards? These girls had no one to blame--but themselves.

Everyone failed these girls. The cops. The system. Their church. Their father. Their mother. These victims can't see that though. They've been raised and brainwashed into believing that their horrible lifestyle and parents are sanctioned by God.

It's so tragic. It's unlikely that these victims will ever come out of denial.

Michelle Duggar is a passive codependent idiot, and her submissive, bullshit lifestyle just ruined the lives of her daughters.
